Thanks. I really cant believe that some of these goverment piggies will say stuff such as an old man like Rainone (not even a made guy) will go out and hurt people if released

If the government responds to the defence motion, they may include a response to the defence claim that the Outfit is effectively dead since ‘07.

Does anyone think the importance of the Family Secrets trial is often overblown? Of all the defendants in that trial, only Marcello and Lombardo were important enough, and Lombardo was semi-retired already, while Marcello probably wasn't the real main power in the organization (DiFronzo and Andriacchi were). The other defendants were just "small fry". The Strawman trial where Aiuppa and others went down, and even the case where Carlisi and several others were convicted, did much more harm to the Outfit imo.“The Chicago Outfit was demolished by the ‘Family Secrets’ case in 2007.”

You've got it backwards -- Marcello was the real power. DiFronzo was pretty much done by that point and Andriacchi was also on the way out. Marcello was definitely a company man and losing him was a big blow to the Outfit.Dwalin2014 wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 2:36 pmDoes anyone think the importance of the Family Secrets trial is often overblown? Yes, I agree. Except, Marcello was an important guy to keep in Prison. He had ideas to revitalize the half dead Outfit IMO. When ho got out temporarily in the early 2000's, he was the man to take over the blue collar rackets. He was much more capable than Sarno. Aside from that, The other previous cases you mentioned were much more devastating. The big downturn for the Outfit began with the Strawman Case Convictions & it has been downhill ever since. The 90's was devastating to the Outfit.Dwalin2014 wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 2:36 pmDoes anyone think the importance of the Family Secrets trial is often overblown? Family Secrets deeply hurt the Outfit because it took down Calabrese and Marcello. Two guys that were still very active and had plans on making the Outfit stronger after they got out of prison
