What list are you getting those names from?Giacomo_Vacari wrote:Your missing Lucchese, Stefano Lasalle, SF Salvatore Maugeri, SJ Salvatore Vassallo, Bonanno soldier Michaelangelo Vitale, and Profaci member Emanuel Cammarata. Not that many members from New Jersey, as the meeting before Apalachin helped smooth a lot of things over.

Only thing I'm wondering about is why Bonanno is placed in possible attendees. Wasn't he one of the arrested? Is it because of his claim that someone else had his ID?

@Antimafia: Thank you for responding. Please elaborate. I have not looked into it, but from my own educated guess Settacase would have no reason to be there. It was an American affair for the most part. Make a decent enough argument as to why not to list him, I'll take him off so as not to perpetuate a lie.
Some of these other names, they are on there, in the suspected. I've gotten contacted about so and so registered at this hotel or that hotel. I have no problem adding them as Suspected. But the guys at the top are the ones who were rounded up officially.
If you guys want to debate why so and so was there, it would make for a great thread and one that hasn't been done in awhile (and more info has been obtained since there was a serious discussion on Apalachin.
If you guys want, I'll think of some way to include your info in an * with credit to your handle. It's a Black Hand Chart and I'm open to upgrading this to the best that's out there. I'm not blowing myself but I've created a dozen charts in the past (without crediting myself) only to see that shit spread around the net even into German and edited (without my permission), they've become popular even if they don't know it's from the same asshole. Since this forum started, I've advertised it with a link on every chart. Some asshole might edit it off, but enough will spread enough that someone enjoys it and follows the link. It's a way to advertise what this forum is made of. I don't get any money for this shit directly, but I've been contacted to do paid work on certain things so that helps me while I plan my retirement. But it's also a way for me to learn more. Much of this is new to me. So thank you for the discussion.
I have no problem +/- any of the Suspected members, but can you please provide me a reason/link as to why they were or weren't. Thanks for the kind comments.

Re: Apalachin Chart
I think this was the meeting where they made the decision they don't recognize siciliani as same thing. So that's possibly Settecasi was there so he gets the message and relays it.
According to Brusca American mafia has in general more connections to Agrigento than Palermo. So its possible there were many bosses with connections and friendship with Settecasi and thats why they called him and not one of the bosses of Palermo.

BeatiPaoli (Oblonicus) was the one who posted about Settecasi. Up till now I had not posted in this thread.Chris Christie wrote:@Antimafia: Thank you for responding. Please elaborate. Great work as always. I like the old school almost newspaper look of it My 2 cents.....I would label all families outside New York by their city. Which means I would remove mention of Ida, Barbara, Maggadino, Delmore & Amari its easier to understand for people who don't know Ida = philly or delmore = amari. Also whats up with the st. louis guys? No available info on their actual positions? and whats the story with Alfred Angelicola?

Antiliar, I heard Cerrito and Lanza was with Frank Garafolo at their motel. Frank had been in Sicily and Joe wanted to see him first before going to the meeting. Joe Chiri was supposed to go with them but got sick, so Salvatore took his place since he had good relations with Buffalo, Detroit, Philadelphia, Bonanno and Profaci families. Vitale was both Galante and Gafafolos driver. Frank said Cammarata was bring Trafficante from Florida, and they just arrived the night before under different names, cause Santo didn't trust Barbara Jr. with the reservations being made, and was wondering what Magaddino was up to. That is what I was told.

Hey CC, great chart!
Unless I missed it, I don't see Joe Zerilli, Detroit Boss, and Anthony "Tony Jack" Giacalone, soldier at the time, on the chart, or at least on the suspected chart.
Never heard Pete Licavoli attending, but since he controlled rackets out in Tucson for Detroit, that would make sense. Joe Barbara Jr. I think transferred to the Detroit family at this point, but I could be wrong.
Again great chart.

Re: Apalachin Chart
Those links were about Lanza, but didn't seen anything about "SF Salvatore Maugeri, SJ Salvatore Vassallo, Bonanno soldier Michaelangelo Vitale, and Profaci member Emanuel Cammarata." Giacomo Vacari might be correct on what he wrote, I just wanted to see links or sources for those names since I had not seen them mentioned being there in other reports.JCB1977 wrote:https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.htm ... 0ApalachinGiacomo_Vacari wrote:Antiliar, I heard Cerrito and Lanza was with Frank Garafolo at their motel. Once again, the Governor knocks it out of the park. Well done, CC. That's a lot of work that does not go unnoticed PR unappreciated.
Re: Apalachin Chart
There is a great chapter on Apalachin the book The Mob And the City by Alexander Hortis. He gives some good info including:
* In depth details on how the meeting was discovered
* A map of where people were caught around the Barbara estate
* A list of the attendees, their positions, how they were caught, etc. He lists 72 in all, including 18 from NYC, 23 from upstate NY, 14 from other parts of the Northeast, 8 from the Midwest, 5 from Western States, and 4 from Southern States.
* Others he says there is "no reliable proof for their attendance" include Milwaukee boss Frank Balistrieri, New England boss Raymond Patriarca, St Louis boss John Vitale, former Boston Boss Philip Buccola, Rockford underboss Joseph Zammuto, Detroit captain Anthony Giacalone, the Cotroni brothers of Montreal, and Giuseppe Settacase of Sicily.
Other suspects determined not to have attended were Bartola Failla of Miami (he was in Jersey for a denaturalization proceeding), Trafficante associate Joe Silesi, Bufalino associate Modesto "Murph" Loquasto (he had been seen operating a craps game in Pittston on the evening of November 14, 1957), and Bufalino associate William Medico (the FBI only were able to identify an earlier summer trip to Apalachin).

All roads lead to New York.
Re: Apalachin Chart
That's true. Alex did a great job in determining who was there and who wasn't.
BTW, Chris, like the change in avatar. Very amusing.
