Michael Franzese plays Mafia II game

Post by Angelo Santino »

I wasn't going to start the post bitching, but motherfucker 1:25 in "At one point in time they were slating me to become boss of that family." *Sigh... last interview I seen he was going off about "them" wanting him to be Ally Boy Persico's Underboss (both things he forget to mention in his first book for some reason). I mean the promotions just keep snowballing, by next year he'll be telling us that had it not been for Jesus they would have made him capo di tutti capi, Jesus Christ.

Anyway... it's kinda interesting, if only for what appears to be candid discussion with an otherwise rehearsed Hollywood Wiseguy.

I miss that one, but yeah he glosses over that too. I guess technically he didn't testify against any members so that makes it ok... to him.

I think Gohn mentioned that he gave up info on Andy Russo.

They should do a youtube where a real mobster watches Franzese's youtubes and points out which parts are unrealistic.
Glick told author Nicholas Pileggi that he expected to meet a banker-type individual, but instead, he found Alvin Baron to be a gruff, tough-talking cigar-chomping Teamster who greeted him with, “What the fuck do you want?”

This guy is such a motherfucker, and he's really been whoring it up recently. I wonder if he'll do college basketball picks on his next video? Him having a heart attack on youtube would give me jerkoff material for a year.

Highly questionable information that hasn’t been corroborated. Franzese claimed that Andrew Russo fixed a boxing fight and, indeed, the FBI surveilled Russo and his mobbed up cronies watching the match in VIP seats. But, as Bert pointed out, there havent been any real allegations that the fighter in question is mobbed up (I can’t remember his name because I don’t follow boxing - Vito Antuo-something), and no sports-fixing charges were ever brought to Russo.

But yes, Franzese did give up “background information” on dozens, if not more, mobsters. This is not some outlandish conspiracy theory. Information that he told the government is referenced in news articles from around the time he first flipped and rebranded himself in the 1990s, and Franzese has pages and pages of “incriminating” information in his book, where he namedrops captains and loan sharks, etc.

Yeah his ranks aren't the only thing that keep getting increased. 8 mil in 1984 would be around 20 mil today.

I think Michael Franzese was probably told by his dad that he could be “boss someday,” and Michael has ran with the belief that he was in line to take over ever since. In fact, Franzese was considered for/briefly served as acting boss before he started serving his sentence, just before DiBella took over IIRC. It was in a NY Times article from back then where Franzese was name dropped as acting boss, but I can’t remember offhand whether it was just before his sentencing for the bank robbery case, or whether it was after he was first paroled in the late 1970s.

I don't know if I feel that strongly about it but yeah, guy is all over the place. Claims he left the mob and goes to universities and talks in present tense, claims he renounced a life of crime for the Lord and makes a good living talking about his involvement. I'm not religious but if I were, I would be offended, not glad that Michael joined the flock.

Michael Franzese may have been told that by his father but he says "they" as in the Colombos wanted him to be Underboss to AP. In the above video he now says that they wanted him to be boss. As far as I can tell this is all new information. Why didn't he cover this in his original book? You don't forget being told you're in the running for Underboss or boss-to-be (which rarely happens in the mafia). He makes it out to be like he's Aldo "The Player" Trapani in the GF1 Game who encounters "Corleone Members" in the game who say things like: "Watch out for this guy, he's going places" or "Just remember me when you're Don!"

Joe Pistone's the same way. In 1987 he "was an FBI agent assigned to take down organized crime." By 2005 it was all "Fuck it, had they asked me to do the hit I would have. Fuggedaboutit!" And I'll never forget the end of S3 prior to the finale where a reporter announces he still has a 500k contract on his head and then he comes out in a leather jacket and glasses and she asks him if Jackie Jr's going to get whacked for robbing Sunshine's card game.

Bill Bonanno though was the absolute worst. That motherfucker would chirp to any tune that played that week. At various times he was the basis for Michael Corleone, the Sopranos was based on His Crime Family, all the bosses attended his ceremony and Johnny Roselli admitted he was the grassy knoll gunmen. He was bordering on Forrest Gump territory in the years before he died.

Things Franzese has just started saying recently...

1. Junior approached him about being underboss.
2. Chin asked him if he wanted to join the Genovese Family
3. He knows Hoffa’s killer, who he says is alive and in prison. He says he has tapes to back it up.

And as far as the gas scam, his numbers are all over the place. I’ve seen interviews where he said they were doing $6M-$7M per week. Other times he’s said $9M-$10M. I will say he has been consistent in saying that he himself usually kept around $2M from the gas scam after they whacked it up.

The guy made millions as a Capo in the Colombo Family. His “dad” is Sonny Franzese. That’s a plenty interesting story. All the extras he likes to throw in there make him lose credibility.
