In addition, have some compassion. This man was brutally murdered in front of his home - in front of his wife and children. Show a level of humanity as you would someone else who wasn't an alleged "member" of "organized crime".
So I guess the media shouldn't refer to Ted Bundy and Gary Ridgeway as serial killers in their coverage either. After all what would their wives and children think?

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Serial killer and alleged mob boss - what was his conviction - extortion and racketeering? Yeah, same thing here.
The point totally flew over your head. The fact is that there are numerous infamous criminals of all stripes that have wives and children. You don't sugar coat what they are or what they have done in your coverage of them based on what their wives and children might think. Cali was a career criminal and a high level gangster in the Gambino family. You do not omit that part in your reporting of him based on what his wife and children might or might not think.

In your first post you’re arguing AGAINST headlines with simple descriptors and FOR colourful adjectives (‘young man’ bad, ‘psychopathic killer’ good), now you’re arguing FOR simple descriptors and against adjectives (‘why are they referred to as Gambino members?’)!
You clearly don’t have an argument. Ridiculous thread.

Also, I'm waiting on your "proof" where Cali admitted or said he was a "leader" in the Gambino organization.
He was indicted in 2008 as the Gambino family Acting Capo. He pled guilty to those charges and served time for it. He is a convicted felon. What more do you want?
Jesus I feel my IQ dropping just engaging with on wether or not Frank fuckin Cali was a top mobster and whether the media should refer to him as such.

What I'm arguing is that the headline isn't fair. Say "Suspected Killer" Don't paint him as a "young man" and then use "Gambino boss" (which, there is no proof of that. Was he a member, okay, he was convicted in 2008. But boss? LE theory). So say it as it is.
In addition, have some compassion. This man was brutally murdered in front of his home - in front of his wife and children. Show a level of humanity as you would someone else who wasn't an alleged "member" of "organized crime".
I mean, there are tapes that prove Frank Cali was an administration member, was there not? I don’t know for sure, maybe some of the Gambino buffs can chip in, but I’m sure I’ve read that Cali’s name has frequently been mentioned in relation to his LCN status by guys like Andrew Campos, the Zips that were busted last year, etc.

Acting capo is not "boss"
No shit. He was promoted after that.

So, I was doing some browsing and there are various websites I go to....and I come across this site that sometimes either reprints news or rewrites it.
Anyway, this site published an NY Post article with this headline:
Young man accused of killing Gambino family boss rants about conspiracies in court"
Am I the only one that sees something wrong with that headline???????????

And once again? Proof? I mean is there wiretap transcripts? testimony transcripts? Did you know him personally to know he was promoted? Or is this based on law enforcement theory?

Thing is little tony comello never did nothing to nobody. So you cant call him a killer just yet. Even though there was a drone that caught the whole thing. Frankie boy was a known drug trafficker. My investigation indicates that Frank Cali was above Frank Matthews in the dope business.

So, why would you call a psychopathic murderer a "Young Man" and yet Cali gets the label of "Gambino Family boss"
I'm just curious how forum members view this because I just don't get it.
Because the stupid asshole Comelo HAS NOT YET been "Officially Convicted". That's the way the Justice System works. Comelo might be diagnosed as being insane for all we know at this point. Cali was referred to as a "Gambino Family Boss" because of his CONVICTION in 2008 & tapes of other Mafia guys saying that he was promoted from a Capo to a Boss. He was a proven admitted convicted Felon. That hasn't happened YET with that idiot Comelo. End of Story, for Christ's sake.
