I have no clue how many soldiers were in his crew, but I’m guessing the 19 other defendants busted are the ones he was with most of the time. Because of how the Colombos operate, he could have 5 more soldiers reporting to him who only see him once a month to drop off an envelope, and who only call Amato for sit-downs or formal Mafia occasions.

Have to delay the release of part three because I found out a lot more about John Dunn. Not the 30-year-old gentleman in the indictment, but he shares the same name with a former Amato crew member named John Dunn who is active in card games and video-gambling. After Amato's 1994 imprisonment, Dunn became an on-record associate of Joseph “Joe the Blond” Giordano. In 2011, Dunn was indicted as an associate of Giordano because he discussed his illegal gambling operations with Tommy McLaughlin and helped McLaughlin set up his own gambling joint.

this was an awesome read. its kind of eye opening when you realize a good chunk of the modern mob economy is not based on bottom-to-top rackets or creative hustles, but it just revolves all these guys loaning money to one another in one big circle like they’re Caribbean immigrants doing a sou-sou. like its a fuckin ponzi scheme lmao.

this Ricigliano kid is interesting though. talk about balls. not just poaching customers for future biz, but personally collecting on loans he didnt even give? LOL. 100% profit. he was either insane or just had no respect for Sciorcia or these guys at all

sooo.. Ricigliano is a co defendant, but is he a Colombo associate? or no?

Ricigliano is not a known associate of any crime family.

The Lion will get recruited fast.
He doesn't care and isn't scared of anyone. Those kinds of guys are sought after.

Sonny Black had the same situation. He was tougher than the mobsters in his neighborhood and was eventually asked to join as opposed to the other way around.

The Lion seems cut from the same cloth.

It doesn't sound like Ricigliano had much to be scared of. Thomas Scorcia seems like he's all talk and very little action. The fact that a guy like that got made shows how far the mob has fallen.

And the Bosco's were supposedly independent as well along with Ricigliano . Scorcia seems like a scared dim witted dope , Until he got made he did nothing like most of these guys ! That's why they join the mob for status and protection and to handle shit they otherwise couldn't , Most of these guys are total pussys ! And your correct 1000% shows how far the mob has fallen ! And this is Staten Island/Mob Island lol. The most thorough and toughest guy IMO was Sylvester "BUGZ" , At 20 something he woulda been the best Captain outta all these mooks

The Colombos used to be one of the most fearsome, violent families in the country, now they can't even prevent an independent loanshark from stealing customers right out from under them.

I can only imagine Scorcia was made purely because he was an earner.

Agree on Scorcia, guy seems like a straight up bitch to get robbed and only retaliate once he got his button.

Any more info on Bugz? Seems like a tough kid. And based on what we read about him thinking about the situation and not wanting to bring other guys along to intimidate a guy, he seems smarter than the typical knuckle dragging moron

I hear ya and generally agree but I think it has more to do with getting caught today vs 30 years ago . If they could still get away with the violence we would see a lot more ( not to mention more wise guys ) but today you have to do the risk reward analysis. I’m worth a few million with real estate, is it worth going to jail for 10 years ( violent act ) to keep my hands on a $5-10K loan book. With so many cameras and little fear of violent retribution, only the idiots would be acting like cowboys.

Funny thing is let’s say he took action and stabbed this kid at the diner , some people on here would he saying what an idiot / moron lol
