Has the Colombo Family ever had a Manhattan-based crew?

In the olden days of the mob crews we're much more rooted in their historical, geographic homes.

A Dyker Heights Crew was comprised primarily of guys who grew up in Dyker Heights and hung out and operated there. Not entirely. Stuff always spilled over and people commuted but early on mostly only the bosses lived in LI or NJ.

The Greenwich crew was mostly Greenwich guys born and bred.

As the mob first moved from Manhattan to the boroughs and then to the suburbs the crew names become almost ceremonial in nature.

I.e. the Prince Street Crew for the Luchese Family.

I agree and I actually think it expanded their sports betting operations to huge volumes combined with tech. Back in the day their gambling ops were more diversified with mini casinos and huge lotteries but specific to sports volume I think they are bigger today, which probably saved them with other rackets drying up, sports & poker machines has kept a lot of guys with steady works as gambling also being a spoke to other rackets.

Ironically IMO the most effective thing the Govt has done to weaken the mob is taking the action themselves ( lottery , poker and now sports ). Very curious how it shakes out as if they really dent sports volume ( not to mention weed which brings big $), there isn’t a lot left.

I would not be surprised if you see some guys/ crews branching out to other states where they have operated in the past but also where sports / poler is still illegal. That would only make sense IMO

Most of the younger kids who move bulk weed are always back and forth to the Bay the same way their dads went down to Florida for coke.

They definitely push in a wider and wider circle and can meet random people via the Internet to work with.

Tech gets them new money. Also gets them caught up.
