Billy Naples – The middle Naples boy and Sandy’s successor as head of the Pittsburgh mafia faction, was killed on July 1, 1962, blown up in a car bomb while starting his car in his garage, just like Cadillac Charlie Cavallaro would be six months later. Billy was 35.

The Testa bombing was brutal because he didn’t die right away. The bomb literally blew pieces of his body a block away from his house, but he managed to survive for a few hours until he bled out in the hospital.

Didn't a guy in Youngstown get blown up in the 60s while his kid was in the car with him? And I think I read that the Commission banned the use of bombs after that. Would that have been this Billy Naples or Cavallero, or someone else entirely?

Hey Scott, what was the apparent cause of this, if known?

June 18, 1957 a bomb exploded on the steps of the breezeway of Rockford alderman Eric Anderson. The bomb seriously injured his wife Alma and she had to have her arm and leg amputated. The bomb was intended for Eric who had brought it to the City Council’s attention that someone could deliver enough votes for $5,000 regarding taxi cab licenses. That man was Peter Scifo, who the FBI described as a “political fixer” for the Rockford LCN.

December 19, 1983 one or two bombs were thrown through the window of a newly-opened Little Caesar’s pizza franchise damaging the interior. No one was injured in this incident and FBI files stated that the bombing was a message to competitors not to open up in the territory of Rockford LCN connected pizzerias, one of which was Sam’s Pizza about a half mile away.

May 17, 1988 a bomb ripped through the building that housed Rondinella Foods, which was a pizza ingredient distribution company long owned by Rockford LCN underboss Frank Buscemi. Buscemi sold the business around 1981 to the DiGiacamo family, who were associates of Buscemi. No one was injured in this bombing and it was stated that there was a disagreement between the owners of Rondinella and the Battaglia Food Company out of Chicago. Allegedly not long after this incident a bomb exploded under a Battaglia truck as it made deliveries in Rockford.

April 11, 1991 a bomb ripped through the front door of the home of gambler David Hall. Hall was slightly hurt but gambler Stefanos Christidis was severely injured in this bombing. After extensive investigation the FBI determined the bombing was a message to Hall who had refused to pay the “street tax” to the Rockford LCN relating to his unsanctioned gambling games. The FBI stated Rockford LCN capo Sebastian “Knobby” Gulotta had found out about Hall’s games and allegedly called Hall a few days before the bombing and told him, “You’re out of business.”

The bookmaker lefty rothstein started his car and it blew up. Lefty survived but his car radio was shot to hell.

Frank costellos mouseleum was blown to bits in 73 or 75.

That other thing in 75. With the kid. His dad was teamster President. His car got totaled by a bomb.

I gotta believe plenty a guys in the chicago got blown to bits with jimmy belcastri running loose.

Those chinks downtown. 80s. The btk. Viet kong guys. They used bombs with nails to hit businesses owned by iressponsible extortion vics.

Then there was the east coast purple gang when they blew up the white house and wacked out all the crooks living in it
