Is Billy still locked up or out on bail?

I always harp on this but feds use uncharged conduct to roof guys on the sentencing for subsequent offenses.

So he has an extortion charge.

He will be up top on the guidelines. Then they will potentially file an 861 armed career criminal motion on him. That turns his potential sentence into something insane. Especially because there's a violent crime in the past and one that could be deemed as such again now.
Which violent crime are you referring to? He beat the murder charge so that can't be counted in sentencing recommendations

Acquitted Conduct is still relevant conduct as per Federal Regs.

all the info is bare bones right now. here's an article from the boston globe on the arrest

Man arrested on robbery, extortion charges; was acquitted in 2001 Mass. nightclub slaying

A man acquitted in a 2001 Massachusetts nightclub slaying was arrested at his home in Saco, Maine, early Friday on allegations of extortion and robbery, according to the FBI.

William “Billy” Angelesco, 48, was indicted in US District Court in Boston on one count of interfering with commerce by threats or violence. The extortion and robbery charges stem from a crime in Abington, Mass., in September 2018, according to the indictment. No other details of the crime were available.

In 2005, Angelesco was acquitted by a Suffolk Superior Court jury on a charge of first-degree murder in the execution-style slaying of 47-year-old Peter J. DeVito, a known mobster and manager of the Squire Lounge. DeVito was shot three times, including once in the head, in the entranceway of the crowded Revere nightclub.

The state’s case against Angelesco included ballistics evidence, statements by his cousins to a grand jury, and witness testimony. But after deliberating for about nine hours, the jury determined that the material was inconclusive and found Angelesco not guilty.

Months after Angelesco was freed, Massachusetts State Police began to wiretap his conversations from November 2005 to February 2006 and discovered he was running a Boston-area gambling operation. Angelesco, then living in Chelsea, pleaded guilty in Middlesex Superior Court to extortion and assault in February 2008. Judge Linda E. Giles sentenced him to five to seven years.

Angelesco was due in federal court Friday in Portland and will appear in Boston at a later date, according to State Police.

FBI task force arrests Saco man with alleged Mafia ties

NOVEMBER 22, 2019

A Saco man was arrested by Massachusetts State Police and FBI agents with the Boston organized crime task force on Thursday and faces one count of Hobbs Act robbery, which is robbery that affects interstate or foreign commerce.

William “Billy” Angelesco, 48, was taken into custody Friday morning and faces one count of interfering with commerce by threats of violence. The crime is alleged to have occurred on or about Sept. 20, 2018, in Abington, Massachusetts, according to the indictment unsealed Thursday. There are no further details about the nature of the allegation in court records.

Angelesco made an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Portland on Friday, and will be held until Wednesday, when he is scheduled to appear again in Portland for a detention hearing, said Liz McCarthy, spokeswoman for Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling.

McCarthy said Angelesco’s case will be transferred to Massachusetts at some point.

Angelesco was charged with the brazen 2001 killing of a nightclub manager but was acquitted after witnesses gave differing descriptions of the gunman who killed the manager inside the crowded Revere strip club where Angelesco worked.

Massachusetts court records from a different case indicate that in 2001, investigators with the Massachusetts State Police suspected Angelesco of being connected to organized crime, and was a “made man” in the Boston Mafia for his participation as the shooter in a slaying for which he was never prosecuted.

In 2006, Angelesco, then living in Chelsea, Massachusetts, was charged with running an illegal gambling ring. He pleaded guilty two years later and was sentenced to 2½ years in jail. It’s unclear how long he lived in Saco.
