Well, we'll see if he is actually convicted. However, that aside, these remaining Outfit guys seem really desperate. I mean, defrauding Social Security and risk going to Jail for $44,000 over a 21 month period is simply plain stupid. Matassa went to Jail on some kind of petty fraud for even less money. I guess the rackets in Chicago are all but dead. I don't know, seems desperate IMO.

He also took the witness stand in 2009 in the trial of Deputy U.S. Marshal John Ambrose, who was charged with leaking details about the Family Secrets investigation to the mob.
Marcello testified that John “Pudgy” Matassa had funneled sensitive information to him — information he thought Matassa had obtained from a former Chicago cop and family friend of Ambrose.

So is he considered a rat?

One has to remember that LCN will try for whatever money is available. I remember reading FBI files and newspaper articles of wiseguys in the 1940s committing war ration thefts/frauds and the like and even stealing from train boxcars and war depots

I doubt there’s a shortage of rackets in Chicago. Like New York you got guys who make money and you got the brokesters.

I can't see any of the remaining Outfit members working with Marcello. Was he thrown out or shelved??

There may or not be a shortage of opportunity in Chicago, but that doesn't mean the Outfit is involved in much of it. Seems to me & other people that the once mighty Outfit is simply running on fumes in 2019.These remaining guys that are still active in some way seem desperate. They would be way better off & way ahead of the game by just doing something legitimate. I see no future at all with the Outfit. The only people that benefitted are some of the younger relatives who are doing well legitimately on their own. They don't need to belong to the Outfit. There's no point to it anymore. If you have solid evidence to prove otherwise, please feel free to present it.

What was the name of that Top FBI guy they sent there for a few years who said he was specifically looking at the Outfit and did not forget about them and was looking to lock up alot of left over people ? He was there for a number of years and recently left , Moved on without any huge racketeering indictments like I thought we'd see but was a dud , Like a Family secrets 2 ? To me that said alot about the state of affairs in Chicago for the Outfit , I waited and waited and waited and am still waiting ! Nothing ! Basically just the Pannozzo indictment and related lil things based out of that , And the looking into "THE MOST DANGEROUS MAN IN CHICAGO" Crap Albie the Falcon , Nothing dropped on that so far ! So the feds were looking at them with a literal microscope/Magnifying glass and came away with nothing ! So either the Outfit is the most secretive , Powerful , Under the radar and well entrenched family in the U.S. and possibly the world, Or hanging by a thread and not cohesive , And just loose affiliations and crews/Cells here and there doing whatever . I'd go with the latter , Just hanging ...

After going from New York, to New England, to New Orleans, to Chicago, he got bumped up to be a top numbers cruncher in DC. His background is in accounting (helped him get Massino) so it makes sense.

Anyway, as far as there being a shortage of rackets in Chicago, it does seem to be that way.

For years now, we haven't seen the kind of big money sports betting operations there like we have in New York.

Video poker machines seemed to have become the main money maker for a time but we haven't seen any cases over the past decade since it was legalized in 2009.

I'm not sure I can even remember when the last Chicago case involving loansharking was.

The involvement in drugs has been minimal and sporadic.

Some residual union presence, sometimes with the descendants of Outfit guys working around them in some fashion; like health benefits admin and things like that. Don't think we'll see another Coli.
All roads lead to New York.

Yes he left at the end of this summer. I believe he said the mob in Chicago is running on fumes when he left, but I have not seen the quote myself. I don't think Salett was here long enough to personally start and finish a big case against the Outfit.
