I seem to recall Capeci writing about his background in column. That there was a question of him not being Italain or half Italian and the Gambinos did an "investigation" and determined that he was full Italian. If I'm remembering right his mother was dating Richard Martino ( or was it Sal LoCascio) and that is how he was able to get in.

Is this the first we are hearing of Andy Campos' father being a made guy? Or was that just something I missed along the way?

I'm pretty sure the rule is you can't be made unless your father is Italian. Campos is a Portuguese name but it is found in Italy mostly in the Lombardy and Lazio regions.

I thought it was common knowledge that he was half peurto rican, been on the forums about 7 years and thats all ive ever heard, not seen anyone say he's full italian. Or maybe it was his step sad who was spanish, Fuck knows

I don't know his full heritage but if he is half Puerto Rican it's clearly on his mothers side. George Campos his father is identified as a Gambino soldier in the first post of this thread. I always thought the speculation regarding his background was because of his last name which on the surface doesn't seem Italian but if you use cognomix and do a search there are definitely people with that surname in/from Italy.

Forums are full of shit, shocked haha not heard anyone mention his dad even being involved before . Spoke to bronx about this and i dont think he'd mind me saying that he thinks Campos took his stepfathers name early in life who was spanish/greek? thats why there might have been confusion about his heritage?

They MUST have millions, these guys.... Why take a potential pinch for free home renovations? They weren't ripping off the union, if I understand correctly, so they were robbing, the construction company giving them the carpentry work? I don't get it..... If it was the executives at the top in on it... But this seems like just employees of the company in charge of paperwork.... That they bribed with free Disney World tickets, home renovations, I'm assuming they stiffed the companies that provided the materials for the work? But how does that help your construction business?


Also, if you are getting millions in contracts, how do you get around the taxes? Like, why not just pay the taxes? Then you have a legit, multi-million dollar business, your not worrying about getting indicted.

Last question, This crew seems to be very connected to the Albanians, they seem to be the muscle arm of the crew. Is this a different group from the Rudaj org, or are these guys from that same group?

The main scheme was paying bribes and kickbacks, in cash or free supplies and labor, to employees of other construction and real estate companies in exchange for rigged bids; as well as change orders in contracts, by which they could overbill or embezzle. In short, the crew was making considerably more money from the additional bids coming their way, and manipulating those contracts once they had them, then they were paying out. Otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.

The crew also paid employees in cash so as to avoid payroll taxes, as well as issued checks for construction work that wasn't actually completed, which were then cashed and returned to them. Some of the proceeds from these frauds were used to pay for most of Campos' house, among other things.

Even if they paid all taxes, they could still be indicted for the bid-rigging and contract overbilling schemes. If these guys were interested in running a totally legit construction company that played by all the rules, and followed all the regulations, they probably wouldn't have bothered joining the mob. If these guys see opportunities to make extra money, big or small, they'll usually take it.

The Locascio crew was always close to the Albanians. Mustafa was their main go-between with them. These Albanian guys are seperate from Rudaj's crew. The latter may have been referred to as the "Albanian mafia," but they had maybe two dozen guys, and hardly had all the Albanians in the Bronx.

Reading that indictment reminds me of Gravanos book....

I got to be honest, this racket to my eyes makes very little sense long term.... which would be okay, if these guys were hungry, but they aint..... bizzare..

Gravano's success in the construction industry came from the weight of the crime family he had behind him, as well as the unions affiliated with the Gambinos. He also took over and absorbed other companies through intimidation and murder.

I remember him saying in his book that their companies still needed to do quality work or, eventually, nobody would want to do business no matter how much muscle they had. But he certainly wasn't playing it straight as a legit operator.

You may have a point about Campos and Martino having enough money to retire. Seems to be what Locascio did. But a lot of these guys love the action as much as the money.

Good post. I think Tore Locascio's 'retirement' was a gradual process, Campos was always described as an acting captain until the last few years if i remember correctly and Locascio still had the title, i doubt the gambinos would let anymore of that crew sail off into the sunset, huge earners

George is his real father and it's him who was thought to be Spanish/Cuban....his mother is Italian, and back in the day was a knockout. Extremely beautiful woman. George was a knock around guy who was more than a little nuts. I wasn't aware he got made but I guess Andrew orchestrated it. This had nothing to do with Rudaj other than Chippy being Albanian and Albanians are very clannish, so not surprised he could call on some random leg breakers.

Outside of the diner, officers also observed, among others, Pasquale “Patty” Falcetti, a captain in the Genovese family, having a meeting. Shortly thereafter, Campos met with Falcetti in the diner. After their conversation, Campos left.

Louie Jet's brother is Charlie Jet he is a member of the Gambino family in Nicky Corozzos crew, Charlie owns Jets Towing not Louie. Louie is most likely in one of the Lucchese families Long Island crews.
