Mafia Prince Credibility
I'm sure this subject has been discussed on this site before, but I am currently reading "Mafia Prince" by Phil Leonetti and was wondering how accurate/credible this book is. It seems to me that Leonetti is very honest about some of the killings he was involved with, in that he shows no remorse and seems to think of the victims as bad people who got what they deserved. But in other parts of the book he tries to play victim and pawn everything off on his uncle, and claims he prevented his uncle from killing several people. Personally, I can understand how being around his psychotic uncle would be exhausting and can believe that he grew to hate him. But other informants have claimed that Leonetti was just as evil and vicious as his uncle. What are your thoughts?

Re: Mafia Prince Credibility
I believe it to be pretty accurate. Yes he blames being in the life on his uncle but made no bones about his roles in killings. At the end he wasn't going to let him kill off the Merlino brothers or the blade after Salvie.

Phil left out a few major things in Mafia Prince that the neighborhood old timers in AC know and still talks about. I know a blood relative of Phil’s. Phil comes back to AC more than people realize.
Re: Mafia Prince Credibility
In the book he talks about returning to Atlantic City after he cooperated to care for his grandmother after she had a stroke, and there is a picture of him in 2011 standing in front of the apartment building he and Scarfo lived in. I have heard several people say that he visits the Philadelphia/Atlantic City area from time to time and wondered if it was true.NJShore4Life wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 11:38 am Phil left out a few major things in Mafia Prince that the neighborhood old timers in AC know and still talks about. No surprise he can return to AC after Scarfo is jailed and also dead. Merlino I doubt would risk to go after him...They break a lot of traditional rules in LCN like going on social media and it doesnt seem like they would benefit from killing him because they are already feared and Merlino has a rep to go on as he has killed, been shot at and basically machine gunned a restaurant to get scarfo jr

Phil doesnt seem to be scared, even though he is a rat he was a cold blooded killer. Didnt he dare Merlino to take a shot at him?NJShore4Life wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 11:38 am Phil left out a few major things in Mafia Prince that the neighborhood old timers in AC know and still talks about. Supposedly, while he was in Atlantic City taking care of his grandmother he was told that Merlino had sent someone to kill him, so he starts carrying a gun and walking around in the open waiting for someone to take a shot at him, but no one ever did.Extortion wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 1:40 pm No surprise he can return to AC after Scarfo is jailed and also dead. Nicky Jr had a restaurant in Ventnor at one point and was living in Ventnor before he bought the big house out in Egg Harbor Township with the FirstPlus money. Word is Joey sent guys to fuck with him at the restaurant. Ventnor is right next to Margate, Joey and his guys are always in Margate in the summer, you will always see them in Margate and in casinos in AC if they aren’t on the NJ State Blacklist. Some major guys like Mazzone , Johnny Chang, Borgesi, etc are surprisingly not banned from the Casinos.

That’s not what I was talking about when I said that Phil left out some major events from his book. I read Mafia Prince once when it first came out. Phil left out a few things that are pretty significant from his book.Fughedaboutit wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 2:35 pmWell yeah that is all from the book about Merlino and his guys trying to shake him down...that isnt the unreported info u speak of so dish it...lol Dont elude to it then not say itNJShore4Life wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 2:29 pm Nicky Jr had a restaurant in Ventnor at one point and was living in Ventnor before he bought the big house out in Egg Harbor Township with the FirstPlus money. Re: Mafia Prince Credibility
I've always wondered just how great of a deal Leonetti got. Unlike Gravano; wasn't Leonetti convicted and then offered to testify? Makes me think Leonetti, obviously displaying resentment towards his uncle was also afraid of prison
Re: Mafia Prince Credibility
He was sentenced to 45 years and ended up serving about 5 years. In the book he says that when he and Scarfo were arrested they had about $3 million between them, and the government allowed Leonetti to keep whatever he had leftover after paying his lawyers. He tries to make it sound like he cooperated for moral reasons, which I think is total bullshit. He could have walked into an FBI office at any point and agreed to cooperate, instead he conveniently waited until he was hit with a 45 year sentence, then had this sudden change of heart.

All guys who flip blame others for their situation. I think the book was fairly accurate. There is no doubt Scarfo was a complete psychopath who had a bad influence on Phil but at the same time Phil still did terrible things. I guess you can say that he has stayed out of trouble since he flipped which is not the case for many mobsters who turn
