Scarfo Jr. tried to recruit him for his crew several years back so evidently he must be functional.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Yeah, I always wonder why he didn’t just clip them then. Or have a fake Induction ceremony just for them. Who was in that making Ceremony?chin_gigante wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 1:09 pmStanfa wanted Merlino and Michael Ciancaglini made because he thought it'd make them easier to bring in and kill

We know Biagio Adornetto for certain. Joseph Massimino was also made in 1992 so there's a good chance he was made then. Maybe Gaeton Lucibello alsoMikeymike12 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 6:43 pmYeah, I always wonder why he didn’t just clip them then. Or have a fake Induction ceremony just for them. Re: Merlino and Chang history
Because even though he wanted to clip them, things weren't that bad yet, shit didn't hit the fan until Joey Chang tried to kill Michael and then it all went to shit. Merlino and Chang had most of the street tax sewn up and most of the capable guys, Stanfa had reason to play ball with them.Mikeymike12 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 6:43 pmYeah, I always wonder why he didn’t just clip them then. He attended the Tony Piccolo funeral in 2004 and I've seen an undated surveillance photo of him post-shooting where he is walking down the street using a cane of some sort. Hard to gauge from one photo taken at a distance, but he looked surprisingly good given the accounts of the shooting and aftermath.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 5:25 pm

Joe Ciancaglini Jr. was particularly close to the Pungitores and associated closely with Ralph Pungitore (who was proposed for membership) and Anthony Pungitore Sr. Pungitore Sr. was part of the initial wave to bring the family back together along with Bocchino and Sparacino before Stanfa took over and during the early part of Stanfa's regime but he appears to have dropped out and I vaguely recall seeing something about Pungitore Sr. having a falling out with Stanfa. I'm under the impression Pungitore Sr. was influential in Ciancaglini Jr.'s rise in the family during that period given their close relationship.
Re: Merlino and Chang history
Yeah you’re right about that. The Changs and the Punges are close and they helped them a lot back when Chick went away. Joey Jr was brought in by Blond Babe during the Front end of the Stanfa years. Joey Jr also sent flowers to Blond Babe’s funeral a huge fuckin get up of flowers to show his respect from South Carolina. Whoever told you that Pung Sr backed off early on in stanfa reign is right. I don’t know if this 100% the whole reason but I have heard from pretty credible people that Pung Sr was against taxing independent bookies. He was more of a Bruno guy in that he thought the bookies should all not get taxed but lay-off or juice money from the organization rather than collecting a monthly/weekly elbow. He backed off a bit after Stanfa reinstated the shakes across the board. Pung Sr was also a smart guy and knew what time it was. He always paid but didn’t want any part of admin or capo slots especially once the writing was on the wall that it was going to be a shooting war with the young Merlino group.
