It seems that the italian population in some of these places are larger than I thought, especially Bronx, Queens and some places in Brooklyn.
It just that New York and some of these places have grown great in numbers by other immigrants that the italians seem less and there are no more italian enclaves. But their numbers are still significant.

In 2000 there were 59,112 people of italian descent living in Bensonhurst. In the 1970's they were roughly double that number, so a big majority.
