Thin Ice: Joey Amato a Marked Man.
For the past decade now, Colombo family captain Joey Amato has been on thin ice in more ways than one. After fifteen years in the can, Amato, now 60, was released in 2009 and forced to rejoin a Mafia clan that had once marked him for death. Since then, he has delicately climbed the ranks of the Colombo family, becoming the captain of a crew and facilitating the inductions of his top men. Labeled by Jerry Capeci as the Colombo family's Staten Island boss, Amato has also been namedropped more than a few times by the feds, and it appears to be only a matter of time before he returns to a federal prison cell.

EDIT: Let me know what you guys think about this one. I had a really hard time piecing together all the tidbits of information and making it flow nicely.

Great article and very informative. I don't have much knowledge about a lot of other families in LCN, so articles like this paint a broader picture of the overall organization which is very helpful in trying to understand it all. Thanks for sharing!

Great article once again. I really enjoy reading your posts.
The amount of backstabbing, treachery, and greed among the Colombos is really something else. I think its everywhere in that life but its on some other level among the Colombos.
Once again most of their problems seems to originate from the whole Persico family and loyalty towards them.
I bet it wont change most of the guys getting made into that family are either blood relatives or loyal to them in some form.

It all boils down to power. Anyone who is a threat to the regime must go. It happened with William Cutolo and, hell, it was close to happening with Ben Castellazzo in 2008. It all boils down to power and, not to mention, money. Joe Campanella testified that one of the main reasons he believed DeRoss wanted Cutolo whacked is because Cutolo had recently bought his girlfriend a house bigger than the one DeRoss owner. Compared with his position as captain, DeRoss was a bit of a brokester. He lived in a working-class, middle-income neighbourhood, no flashy cars, etc.StandUpGuy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 9:37 am Great article once again. I really enjoy reading your posts.

Another great write-up, gohn! The part how Carna insulted Cerbone by dying unexpectedly had me in stitches.
