His age and position had something to do with it as well. I have a photo of him with a mustache but I think that file got corrupted. I'll post it if I can ever get it recovered.
That's true, meaning Ive also seen reports that he was considered too young for that position by the rest of the Outfit, mainly because he was about to take control over one huge part of Pranno's old crew (Stone Park, Schiller Park, Franklin Park, Northlake, interests in Melrose Park and additional ops as far west as Elgin). All of the previously mentioned fellas once answered to Pranno, including DeChiaro, Amabile, Cervone, Ariola, Eboli etc., and possibly younger associates such as Lombardo, DeRosa and DeAngelis.

When Nick Palermo was in charge of the sewer contracts around Northlake and Melrose Park, he kicked percentage both to Pranno and Battaglia. So it is quite possible that Eboli wasnt ready to take such a huge responsibility at the time, besides being the overseer of only two territories, and I doubt that he went on his own at the start, since he was probably advised by DeChiaro or maybe someone else

It was Gudio DiChiaro's son in law who was killed defending Guido from kidnappers outside his home. The FBI files speculated young turks were going after Ricca's old guard after Ricca went away.

I have to believe Eboli's elevated status had something to do with his father - he seemed to have leapfrogged a lot of older guys. I also read a Tribune article about Louie Mooch threatening Carlo Gambino after his father was killed and Accardo stepped in - I wonder if Accardo would do that for everyone.

PS - Joe Shine Amabile's grandson is that "Joe from Chicago" on the bachelor - still runs the family grocery stores the old man juiced his way into. The grandson has quite a Melrose accent.

Here's the article about what SuperSolano is referring to, except it did not happen after Ricca's death, it happened well before in 1960.

It fits perfectly with the time when DeChiaros protection Paul Ricca was in jail and when Giancana allegedly took away some of DeChiaros ops and later placed him under Pranno

Thanks for the confirmation

Tommy Eboli in New York was not liked much either, which I think was the main reason for his death. I never knew or heard about his family connections to Chicago.

Frank Cullotta mentioned a New York guy was sent to Chicago and he wasnt a fan of the guy. Could this be the same person?

Not sure Frank is the best source - I've never head of a real NYC guy transferring to the Chicago Outfit aside from the Capone days. I'm not sure that happened.

It sounds like he's talking about Louis Eboli, who he hated. Cullotta kicked his son out of his business, then Eboli attacked him and defended himself. Then Joe Lombardo let Eboli beat the crap out of Cullotta and ordered Cullotta to take it.
