Cannibus Industry and wiseguys
One of the things that made la cosa nostra so powerful in the 20th century was their ability to infiltrate legitimate businesses and industry. The cannibus industry over the last decade or so has inhabited this fuzzy, gray area legally, and it seems like an industry they could get their tentacles in and make money on and off the books. Is there any evidence out there any of the families have started dabbling in this industry?
I know there have been connected guys selling weed since forever, but the space marijuana is in right now culturally and legally is different than 1985. Might not be something that’s profitable but doesn’t draw as much heat.

It might be too regulated, and they are under so much scrutiny if they did get involved it would be called infiltration of legit business, and they would be kicked out. If it was still underground they could do better In my opinion legalizing weed is a disaster Wait till we have more people using it, more traffic deaths, and other problems.

If the government doesn’t have a problem with cigarettes and alcohol being legal then they shouldn’t have a problem with weed being legal. Cigarettes have killed god knows how many people and look at all the deaths related to alcohol. In my opinion, legalizing weed would be a great decision.bert wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 1:49 pm It might be too regulated, and they are under so much scrutiny if they did get involved it would be called infiltration of legit business, and they would be kicked out. I dunno the places they’ve already legalized it (California, Colorado, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, etc) haven’t had any of that. The results have been overwhelmingly positive. It’s a billion dollar industry, and there are plenty of people involved making money that don’t exactly have the cleanest rap sheet. Just seems like now would be the time to get in before the giant big tobacco-like organizations swoop in as soon as it’s legalized nationally.bert wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 1:49 pm It might be too regulated, and they are under so much scrutiny if they did get involved it would be called infiltration of legit business, and they would be kicked out. It is tough to get in as a dispensary or cultivator licensee, even a lowly worker must have a squeaky clean face. If they utilize cutouts properly and put up the big money that is required, think 5-7.5 million and that's on the low end as a cultivator way out in unincorporated territory. With a fuxkall of security. But business is for real a good thing ran the numbers, if you plant 5000 high grade feminized autoflowering seeds, and do it properly including the harvesting process, you will see little plant loss - less than 5% and at the very very least all your strains selected produce more than 1.3lbs on average yield per plant.
Conservatively based on the above numbers a yield could gross an owner easily 6500lbs. Once harvested and pruned to just pure buds, it will be closer to 5525lbs.
These are very high thc , in many cases very popular strains and even cup winners.
As such, 5525lbs translates for a wholesale cultivator selling to a dispensary, the sale price of roughly, $1000 per lb for a quick, fire-sale price of $5,525,000. Usually all cash deals.
Think of if you shopped it around to the legal jurisdictions your company's licenses allow for and sold it to many dispensaries for a higher price like 1750 which is still a bargain for some truly 4500 a lb weed.
1750 x 5525 = $9,668,750
This is a big big business.

High schools and colleges have courses on this already.
Not sure if it's true but I hear that out west there is a surplus of weed. So much that they don't need to grow any for a couple of years.

By the way those numbers can be accomplished in 90-120 days or less. That is the truly amazing part and it almost totally legal. Ugh, if it wernt for those conflict of law precedent setting federal cases, I would be a billionaire farmer by now Pinky!

It's one more bad habit Slim, and worse then cigs. When I was young I tried weed. Maybe a thousand times, I'm not sure, but I know it would mess me up a bit, and it has gotten stronger in potency every decade. I stopped in the late 80's, last time I smoked I had some Thai weed that was so strong I went the fuck home and never smoked again.slimshady_007 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 2:18 pmIf the government doesn’t have a problem with cigarettes and alcohol being legal then they shouldn’t have a problem with weed being legal. Bert didn't like weed. So no one should have it.
Glick told author Nicholas Pileggi that he expected to meet a banker-type individual, but instead, he found Alvin Baron to be a gruff, tough-talking cigar-chomping Teamster who greeted him with, “What the fuck do you want?”

Not sure, I got that info from the 2018 indictment and I don’t think it listed any others, but it definitely could be. Is Armetta close to them?Mason_dixon wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 6:53 pmThe Basciano boys right?thekiduknow wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 6:38 pm Bonanno solider Albert Armetta, along with others, invested in shipments of marijuana from California that were sent back to New York around 2015/2016.

Yeah it’s most definitely not worse than cigarettes. The science is pretty clear on that one.bert wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 6:10 pmIt's one more bad habit Slim, and worse then cigs. Re: Cannibus Industry and wiseguys
Weed was only criminalized in the first place because the DuPont company, which invested in nylon (to manufacture rope), was threatened by people being able to grow plants in their own back yard that would produce material as strong and durable as nylon. Part of their PR campaign was associating hemp with Mexicans and many indigenous groups who were using the flowers to smoke for pain and stress relief. DuPont, and the politicians, cops, newspapers and radio stations in their pocket, invented the concept of smoking weed to "party" and be crazy. Anyone who's ever used it knows this isn't a side effect. Even Bert will tell you it's not fun man. It's strong. Use it wisely and it can have positive medicinal qualities, mental and physical. Abuse it and you may become paranoid. Or fall asleep.
