There's one nice but quite short shot of old man Amato while entering the chapel, on Goudie's report regarding Spilotro and others. Btw Rocco DeGrazio was an ex-cop or was related to some cop I really don't remember, and used to travel with Accardo to Italy, but don't get confused with Rocco DeGrazia, since that was a completely different individual, old time boss of MP and some western suburbs and died years before Accardo

Thanks. Besides the last supper picture, there is that picture of Amato and Accardo, with the case of Meister Brau and spirits on the table.I believe it was at a party Accardo had at his house. I take it that Amato survived the Ferriola crew takeover of his territory, because of Accardo.

The article in question is the only source for Amato being shelved at the 1976 luncheon. The IRS is cited in it and they are traditionally not as accurate as the FBI or other law enforcement sources for obvious reasons. It was often thought that the Sarillo bombing was a part of a beef between Amato and Solly D/Ferriola but it came out in Family Secrets that Sarillo was balking at kicking up to Amato, which was the reason for the bombing, so Amato at least had some influence into the early 80s.

Don't give me wrong, some credence should still be given to the article but there is two sides to every coin.

Sarillo used to hang at Village Pizza in Carpentersville - then went to found Nick's Pizza which is a very successful chain.

By the late 60s, few of Amato's close associates were one Bruce Borelli in DuPage County, Lawrence McHale and Roy Sears in Crystal Lake, Amato's son Donald and also possibly one Rocky Montagna who bought out Rocky Potenza in Niles

Previously Amato was in Daddonos crew who in turn went to jail in 1967 and died there. You see Daddono controlled one quite large crew but after his imprisonment, most of the members went to different factions. For example, Montagna possibly went with Amato, Clementi went with the MP crew I think, while DeRosa went with Aiuppa, followed by Frank Fratto and Infelice who joined the Cicero group etc. As Snakes already pointed out that there were also low level fellas who came up from Daddonos old crew/Amato, such as DeLaurentis who later also joined the Cicero group

Thanks man. Stay tuned because very soon we'll post the charts regarding the crews which existed from 1931 until 1970

Was Daddano originally a Taylor Street guy (42)? I was not aware he had such a large crew - It's also interesting to see an old Grand Avenue guy like Amato (who grew up with Accardo) working under one of Giancana's men.

Maybe some of the posters will not agree with me, but I believe that Daddono, Blasi and the English Bros, all came under Lawrence Dago Mangano, who by the early 1940s ruled the Near West Side, Northwest Side and also had interests around the Near North Side. They used to call him the King of the West Side, and one of his top guys was Frank Laino who in turn oversaw some of these fellas. When Mangano got eliminated in 1944, he was succeeded by Jimmy Belcastro who in turn was Blasis alleged sponsor and possibly others too. The thing was that Belcastro suddenly died of a heart attack in 1945 and that's when Giancana's and Accardo's fellas came on the scene.

Daddono's crew was made out of members from Taylor St., Elmwood Park and Melrose Park.

Antiliar wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 11:41 am In one of the indictments from the past ten years, it may have been one of the cases related to Mickey Davis, Chuckie Russell, or Paul Carparelli, one of them was recorded as saying that Pete DiFronzo was the street boss for the whole Outfit. In the indictment for one of those cases it listed three confidential informants, and one was apparently a made guy going back to the 1980s. If John DiFronzo was a dry snitch, it probably wasn't until after the Rincon Indian casino case in the early 1990s that sent DiFronzo to prison. Hopefully one of the other posters remembers which case it was.
By the way when is your Chicago Outfit book being released? I'm looking forward to it.

SolarSolano wrote: Mon Sep 09, 2019 8:15 am I don't think the Feds had much to go on regarding DiFronzo's role in the Spilotro murder OTHER than Nick C's testimony. In regards to Marcello's role in that hit, Nick's testimony was supported by voicemails and calls Marcello had made to Mike Spilotro's house - and physical evidence they were in Marcello's car. I am of the belief Johnny DiFronzo was not a dry snitch - he simply had been retired for nearly two full decades and had plenty of money to live on.

In the mid 90s when Joe "Wing" DiFronzo was indicted for an indoor marijuana farm, he supposedly left Chicago in a hurry - not to get away from the Feds, but to get away from Sam Carlisi who ordered his death for losing the money he had loaned DiFRonzo for the operation and screwing everything up. Joe apparently stayed in Florida until his older brother John could get him a pass. I've heard rumors John DiFronzo gave the Outfit to Carlisi at that point to save his brother and stepped back - Pete stepped into his place as boss of Elmwood Park and Johnny remained in the background ever since serving as more of an advisor role than anything else. I think Chuck Goudie's infamous dinner meeting was simply a meeting of the Elmwood Park brass (no other crews were there from Cicero or anywhere else) that was more or less social in nature.
Is the DiFronzo turned over the Outfit to Carlisi, your own theory or did you read it somewhere??
