Retrial coming for alleged mastermind of Gus Boulis murder.
This case didn't really get as much attention as I thought it would. I wonder why the FBI has such a hard-on for Moscatiello given that he was an FBI informer for years. They even sought the death penalty, for ordering one slaying. For the next, prosecutors in Tommy Gioeli's case opted not to seek the death penalty for a man charged with ordering six murders, including a cop. Go figure.

Both men who were convicted of orchestrating the February 2001 murder of Miami Subs founder Gus Boulis will face new juries in a bid to win their freedom, the Florida Supreme Court affirmed this week.
The Fourth District Court of Appeal ordered retrials for Anthony “Big Tony” Moscatiello and Anthony “Little Tony” Ferrari last year after finding that the jury was unfairly allowed to hear testimony from a witness who claimed the triggerman confessed to the crime. The triggerman, according to the witness, claimed to be hired by Moscatiello.

Gohn, what makes you say Moscatiello was an informant? I never heard that.

I didn't hear that either until I did a tiny bit of digging. I saw that Moscatiello was listed as an informer on Pogo the Clown's Gambino chart, and I looked it up further to find that in around 2006 or so, he was outed as being an undercover informer against the Gotti crew. He apparently stopped informing shortly after the Gus Boulis murder. Maybe his separation from the feds is what caused them to go at him so hard for the Boulis slaying. The FBI hates it when their informants embarrass them, which is why they threw Greg Scarpa and Frankie Sparaco under the bus in the early 1990s.maxiestern11 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 2:20 pm Gohn, what makes you say Moscatiello was an informant? EDIT: Gang Land News wrote that he was an informant, and Cosa Nostra News did too, citing a 2006 Miami Herald article.

What was that shooting all about anyway and how did these guys get caught? I clicked on the link gohngotti has in his post but I can't read the article because the sun-sentinel site goes not accept connections form Europe. I was in Florida at the time when that happened and it seemed whoever did got away clean with no witnesses. Sometime later I remember hearing they caught these two New York connected guys. I never could understand how that happened. I never understood why the guy got shot in the first place. Did somebody come across a band aide in one of their sandwiches?
