Re: In your opinion which crime family has the youngest amount of members
Ill be honest, I think the discussion is sorta pointless. We only know about the Bonanno family’s younger members because they are under heavier police scrutiny at the moment. We have seen far fewer lower-level busts for the other four families, so their “average age” of active members is probably similar. If it wasn’t for the internecine Bonanno conflict, we would have no idea about a lot of these younger members, a lot of whom only surfaced during FBI intel about the internal 2015 conflict itself.
In recent years, the Bonannos have had two made members walking around on the street providing intel, and one of them was a captain. The Luccheses had a soldier provide intel but, as far as we know, the FBI have had a hard time cracking the other families as of late. If we had a Colombo capo and soldier cooperating in the vein of Peter Lovaglio and Tommy Carrube, we’d probably see a whole lot of younger, newer members that none of us had heard of.

100% they are

It's not a "could be." It's a definitely. We know the Colombos have members whom we don't yet know, due to confirmed ceremonies in 2013, 2014, and 2016, and a speculated ceremony in 2017/8. In fact, prosecutors insisted in 2011 that the Colombos were vigorously rebuilding their ranks, and the New York Post bolstered that in 2018. We know the Gambinos have members we don't know yet due to a confirmed ceremony in 2016. We know the Luccheses have members we don't know about because of John Pennisi's ceremony 2013 ceremony which he testified included other people. The only family that doesn't appear to be doing so are the Genoveses, as John Rubeo caught Eugene Onofrio on tape discussing how the books were closed. Even then, we know Ralph Santiello was inducted sometime in 2014/5.slimshady_007 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 1:34 pm Other families could be making younger guys but we just haven’t found out yet
My point is, I doubt the Bonannos are more "active" than the rest of New York's Four. The only difference, in my humble opinion, is that the Bonannos have faced far more law enforcement scrutiny in recent years due to a high-risk power struggle that saw increased federal heat, and various turncoats including a captain and two soldiers, all of whom were actively informing while on the streets. If the rest of the families had that going on, we would have a lot more insight on the family's administrations. The Luke's had John Pennisi who, alone, was able to spell out exactly what was going on in the family, and the Gambinos appear to be under some sort of FBI pressure with the recent cross-country arrests and how quickly their administration change (the promotion of Paradiso) spread. The Genoveses and Colombos may be under far less pressure, but I have serious doubts that this is a result of a lack of activity or recruitment issues.

It’ll be interesting to see who the Colombo’s have recruited in recent years. They always seemed to have recruited tough guys/killers.gohnjotti wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 2:26 pmIt's not a "could be." Re: In your opinion which crime family has the youngest amount of members
What's up my brother Gohn, Yea in a way we dont know how many younger guys there are out there, I'd say between the ages of 25, Maybe a lil younger and the ages of 35-45 . Im just saying alot of the younger guys IMO are Bonannos followed by Colombos and Gambinos , But with the lack of steady leadership due to retirements, Deaths, Imprisonment, Constant surveillance, Confidential informants etc. Alot of guys aren't groomed correctly, Or at a very minimal amount, And alot of guys I think we're seeing have blood ties to members and are recruited due to that simple fact. Younger guys from the 5 boroughs no matter how tough or strong with earning abilities are way less likely to be approached by any mob guys and told, Your with me/Us now, Nobody really needs pr wants to, Or has to have protection these days from other criminals, Gangs, Crews etc...like it was in the 70s 80s and 90s.Even slot of the Italian kids in the neighborhoods have little idea what the mob is, Who they are how they operate, They have Zero influence in the streets or are not even visible. They pretty much are only visible to an extent on the street in small pocket areas in Bk, Queens,Bronx etc..That's why the Families, Certain crews members and associates contract work out to street gangs, Things like Mirder, Financing drug deals/Dealing which we've seen has not ended up so well ! Also, The younger Italian kids/Guys are in Gangs,Or want to be affiliated with gangsgohnjotti wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 12:31 pm Ill be honest, I think the discussion is sorta pointless. It became a different world for these guys! ..... actually for the whole world it’s changed from even 20 years ago, but mob guys especially
Re: In your opinion which crime family has the youngest amount of members
I would hope, For the Colombos sake that they turned a corner somewhat and whoever they're inducting are more in tune with earning and learning instead of inducting tough guy killers and knuckleheads dopes prone to violenceslimshady_007 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 3:22 pmIt’ll be interesting to see who the Colombo’s have recruited in recent years. Talking about the demise of the mob and last borgata standing......
Reminds me of that movie with Forrest Whitaker, "Ghost Dog" with the old washed up gangsters who can hardly shoot straight.
This fictional portrayal is currently reality in some cases / and definitely will be the state of certain groups in the near future.

Re: RE: Re: In your opinion which crime family has the youngest amount of members
And in this day and age I think each of the families face the same problem with finding capable guys. The bums who are left as potential recruits probably don't even have the wits to realise or don't even care which family is the best to join. They just want to make an easy buck and be a gangster with whoever wants them.

If a guy just wants to be a gangster and get away with shit and make money and have a reputation hes better of trying to get made in the colombos or bonnanos if hes in his 30s capable good earner he has more of a chance getting made in those 2 families.
