Billy Giacalone is who got him into the car.

Hoffa hit team:

Detroit LCN: Tony Palazzolo, Billy Giacalone
NYC/NJ LCN: Briguglio bros.

triggerman: either Billy Jack or Sally Bugs

Clean-up crew/disposal

Detroit LCN: Tony Pal, Frank Bommarito ("Bozzy" Vitale in charge of organizing details)
NYC/NJ LCN: Andretta bros.

Tony Pal was driving the car, not Chuckie.

I've also heard from some street sources the whole hit was a Detroit job, not Genovese. I tend to believe Tony Pro's crew was involved, but I don't dismiss the possibility It was just the Detroit crew by itself.

One pretty good Detroit street source of mine says he wasn't shot, but strangled to death. I tend to believe he was shot.

In regard to personalities of his characters, making them plausible to the viewer, not history. Goodfellas was all over the place. So was Casino. So was Raging Bull. I don't believe Scorsese's ever made a historically accurate non fiction film. Except maybe The Last Temptation of Christ.
Both Goodfellas and Casino are largely accurate. In Goodfellas it's the characters who weren't accurately portayed. Henry Hill as the tall, handsome guy and Tommy as a midget who was the same age as Henry. 'Paulie' was also portrayed as a much more sympathetic character than the real Paul Vario. But many of both movies' events did occur as depicted.

Scorsese went with this story because it's good and at this point will likely never be disproven.

I think Scorsese does "mostly accurate" stories and does a good job in retaining the character of the real life people, events, etc. For Goodfellas he himself admitted they couldn't make them as despicable as real life, because people would not want to watch that movie. He omitted some details about Karen, the motives behind Billy Batts' murder, etc, but it was done because they felt it wouldn't add anything important to the narrative.

But this to me is no more convincing than theory that Sheeran was some way involved.

It coulda been just Detroit, or it coulda been Detroit and NY/NJ. He coulda been strangled, but he also coulda been shot. See what I’m saying? Even for those that contest Sheeran’s account, there own version of what happened is filled with question marks.

And it should be noted that there were people close to the situation (law enforcement, family, journalists) that believe Sheeran had something to do with it well before Brandt’s book came out.

IMO that film is far less likely to have anything close to the credibility or historic accuracy of this.
Tell me which Hollywood films are accurate and not dramatized?

The movie is based off the book. Many people believe the book is a complete lie so the opinions of the movie will be distorted.

+1000. It does not exist. Otherwise it would be a documentary. If you do not want to lose the audience a film is forced to have a part of dramatization !

100% in agreement.... gonna be a great movie, if only for their acting and Scorsese directing! Last of the Mohicans! They’re all up in age. Probably never make another movie together again, especially a mob movie!
-
CLASSIC!.... even if the story line is off. Who cares! Still be great to view

They were the “celluloid” gangsters of our time! On par with Jimmy Cagney, Edward G. Robinson and Paul Muni.

Looking forward to it!
