From the article to which I've linked below (I will try to find a link to the Statistics Canada report):
A national police association is welcoming the publication of new crime data by Statistics Canada that provides the first quantitative look at gang and Mafia activity in the country.

Re: Mafia and gang activity -- quantified-- in Canada
Why’s LE so bad at solving mafia murders in Canada?
Wise men listen and laugh, while fools talk.
Re: Mafia and gang activity -- quantified-- in Canada
Because Mafia murders are seldom solved on DNA evidence. They are solved more through investigations, wiretaps and testimony from informers. I don’t think Canadian LE is getting the kind of budget needed for those sorts of investigations. I don’t think they have as much power as US law enforcement to authorise wiretaps and bugs, and there isn’t as much emphasis on cultivating informers and rats, because sentences are drastically shorter in Canada and turning cooperating witness is less mainstream in Canadian LE.

Re: Mafia and gang activity -- quantified-- in Canada
I’m going to say incompetence and unprofessionalism plays a part also. The GH Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, which collated a lot of this intelligence and dealt with CI’s disbanded. This was an important tool in combating TOC. The official line for closure was ‘operational difference’, the actually reason was officers behaving like children.gohnjotti wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 1:58 pmBecause Mafia murders are seldom solved on DNA evidence. Yep guys are not afraid of the Canadian justice system and that's the biggest factor I think. Plus I'm not sure their gangsterism charges are even close to what we have with RICO charges.
If I didn't have my case coming up, I would like to come back with you gentlemen when this is over with and really lay the law down what is going on in this country.....
