Chicago/NYC silly question.

Chicago/NYC silly question.
So when John DiFronzo died I really can’t imagine that Vena, or DeLaurentis fished out his little black book and ran an index finger down to B and called Bellomo to inform of the change in personnel.
I just don’t see it. Surely national communication between Chicago and the north east is dead now?
Who would even be the link? It’s a stupid question but it’s sort of not, if you try and trace back to who or when those last links would’ve been maintained up unto.
Not to mention even making contact would be used in a Rico as evidence.

Re: Chicago/NYC silly question.
I doubt anyone contacted NYC concerning any prospective leadership changes.

In the past there were actually reasons for New York and Chicago to be in communication. Control of unions (IBT, LIUNA, HEREU) on a national level, open territories like Las Vegas and elsewhere, etc.
Capeci explained that, as the ties between families started to fragment, people in different cities who knew each other died off, and the Mafia became less national in scope, Chicago saw less reason to be involved in Comission meetings. Technically the Outfit was still part of the Commission but it basically got to the point where the Commission was a New York enterprise. Buffalo, Philadelphia, and Detroit were also at least nominal members before Magadinno, Bruno, and Zerilli all died. People have talked about a "two-headed Commission" but I think there was really only the one in New York and the Outfit holding influence over families and territory west of Chicago.
Today even in New York the latest news is that the families have been communicating through messengers and what not but not on the level of all the bosses actually getting together. Maybe that could still happen again at some point but we won't know until info comes out.
Anyway, guys may cross paths in prison, and I think Pudgy Matassa is related by marriage to someone in the Genovese family, but there would be no official reason for anyone in Chicago to call up anyone in New York about leadership changes.
All roads lead to New York.
Re: Chicago/NYC silly question.
Matassa is related to Daniel Pagano. Cousin maybe?
Re: Chicago/NYC silly question.
I don't think it's a silly question, but a great question.
Re: Chicago/NYC silly question.
Whether they did or didn't contact New York, I would bet they didn't call Barney directly. Also what's interesting is, well now we have Matassa mentioned as someone that has connections to the Genoveses, but pickings got to be pretty slim on who would do formal LCN introductions lol. I guess there is always a possibility that DeLaurentis and or Vena have been formally introduced to someone in NY. in the past.Just out of curiosity, I wonder if DeLaurentis has any past dealings with any of the NY Families.DiFronzo and the DiNunzio Bros of New England had a connection.
Re: Chicago/NYC silly question.
DeLaurentis was locked up for quite a while, so he may have ran into some east coast guys at some point.
Re: Chicago/NYC silly question.
It is also possible that the outfit is still involved in some legal enterprises that could have connections on the east coast

Re: Chicago/NYC silly question.
It’s funny you say that, both DiFronzo and DiNunzio are surnames of Barese/Pugliese descent. Maybe a family connection going back?
Re: Chicago/NYC silly question.
Yes even if they had DuFronzo's little Black book, they wouldn't be able to call him until properly introduced. They might have had someone else like the Matassa Pagano connection pass it along if they did at all, like Wiseguy said, there isn't alot if NY to Chiy dealings that we know. But I can see them getting the info to NY bosses, to let them know they are still viable.

Re: Chicago/NYC silly question.
The New York 5 could care less about whatever is left in Chicago IMO. I think, like Wiseguy stated, those days are long gone. The Rico Act was the beginning of the end of all that interstate conspiracy. The guys in New York have enough trouble trusting one another let alone some guy in Chicago.Ozgoz wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 5:35 am So when John DiFronzo died I really can’t imagine that Vena, or DeLaurentis fished out his little black book and ran an index finger down to B and called Bellomo to inform of the change in personnel.

Re: Chicago/NYC silly question.
The Buffalo boss reached out to NY before he promoted one of his soldiers to Underboss. This doesn't mean anything in regards to Chicago but proves there is still some inter family communication going on at a national level, which leaves a possibility that NY and Chicago communicate in some form or fashion.

Didn’t the bonnanos have some relatively recent connections to Chicago?

Bonanno Soldier Vincent "Elmo" Amarante was living in and operating a strip club in Chicongo in the early 2000s. Don't know if that is still the case or how long that lasted.
