I have the worst luck trying to upload files, but the August 4th, 1981 article on the investigation has Licata shot once in the chest.

Wasnt it with a rifle though and at an odd angle? Or did I get that wrong as well?

I'm not sure if you're thinking of this one, but a California investor named Myford Irvine died after shooting himself twice with a shotgun and then in the head with a .22 in 1960 and that was ruled a suicide. He had connections to Pete Licavoli and there are FBI files that reference information that it was a murder that came out of Detroit.

To begin with, it makes no sense that Northeast mob families would be given the task of whacking Hoffa, whose murder was likely sanctioned by the Mafia Commission since he was such a prominent national figure. He was an associate of the Detroit family. They could do it without raising Hoffa's suspicions. And too many things could go wrong with a plan involving a New Jersey hit team traveling to Detroit, killing Hoffa and then transporting his body 600 miles for burial in the Garden State.

Chucky O'Brien knows a lot more than he has led on. Tony Jack lured Hoffa to a supposed truce meeting. The evidence for that is a reminder note that Hoffa left on his desk. In addition, Hoffa told others about this meeting. Outside the Machus Red Fox restaurant, Hoffa was picked up, probably by Giacalone's brother Vito (Billy Jack), possibly with a few others. Billy Jack's presence would make sense to Hoffa since he was to meet with his brother.

Billy Jack's location that day has not been pinned down. Hoffa may have been killed in the car, or somewhere else. His body was most likely disposed of in the Detroit area. It was a very small group that greatly decreased the likelihood that an informer could learn of it, and rat to the Feds. All the Detroit characters are deceased now, thus there is little chance we will ever get a full account of the famous hit, let alone find Hoffa's body.

Yeah, I think Tony Pro knew about it and signed off on it but the hit team would likely be local.

My opinion, most definitely. It's the teamsters, multiple Families were involved with them.

That’s never been debated. Fitz was the mob’s guy. Jimmy had a limit with them and did say no to certain propositions...it was a free for all with Fitz. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter why they wanted him gone. Jimmy did and said whatever the fuck he wanted and challenged every bit of authority he could. Those old timers from the mid 70’s saw it as a liability. I just find this so unbelievable that the guys involved have kept this a secret for this long...if there is anybody who was strongly considered a suspect still alive which I do not believe there are , this secret will never come out. There may still be some people who knew Jimmy had to go, but I don’t believe they knew any specific details. At least not based off of all the current evidence that is out there. Kudos to Detroit for pulling off one of the crimes of the century and getting away with scotch free. Shows how tight and strong their family was for a long time.
