The Gallo crew

Post by Lupara »

I can't recall a similar topic, but if it already exists feel free to merge it.

Anyway, I stumbled upon the Gallos after some random mob readings. Based upon a list of members on Wikipedia I can't help but notice that a lot of their associates who ended up in different families rose to high-level positions such as capo or even boss. Can someone here provide a reliable list of their associates? If it corroborates Wikipedia's list on Joey Gallo's page then I wonder whether the other families had admiration for this crew or that the Gallos just happened to be excellent recruiters with a keen eye for capable guys.

Thanks. I find it perculiar Luparelli was in his crew as it's said he was the one who tipped the Colombos about Gallo being at Umberto's and then organized his murder.

Was Bobby boriello and Roy demeo not a part of the Gallo gang at one point before transferring to the Gambinos?

I believe Boriello was. Don't know about DeMeo.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

I've never heard that about DeMeo. He's not from that part of Brooklyn and I think he was with a Lucchese crew before going with Nino Gaggi.

Bunch of mistake´s on Furio´s list.

I made this list a long time ago, and I think it needs minor changes:

"Joey Gallo (made)
Larry Gallo (made)
Albert Gallo
Louis Mariani
Nicholas Getch
John "Mooney" Cutrone (made)
Tony Berardo
Alfred Mondella
Mike Rizzitelli
Mike Albergo
Philip Albergo
Pete "The Greek" Diapoulas
Anthony DiCola
Marco Morelli (made)
Emile Colantuono (probably not a member of the Gallo gang but murdered because of aiding them financially)
Jerry Basciano
Bobby Boriello
Joe Tomasello
Ali Hassan Waffa "Ali Baba"
Sidney Slater (his closeness to the Gallos is debatable)
Armando "The Dwarf" Illiano
Louie Hubela
Dominick Famulari
Anthony Getch
Salvatore Mangiameli (made)
Sally "D" D´Ambrosio (made)
Joey "Bats" Cardello (made)
Rocky Comaitello (correct spelling ???)
Joey Magnasco (made)
Vinny "The Sicilian" Gugliaro (made)
Joseph Musumeci Jr
Larry "Big Lolly Pop" Carna
Joe "Little Lolly Pop" Carna
Chico Regina
Joe "Jelly" Giorelli (made)
Frank "Punchy" Illiano
Tony "Shots" Abbatemarco (made)
Sammy "The Syrian" Zahralbam
Jimmy "Lefty" Geritano
Rosario "Ray Ray" Musico
Lenny Durso
Salvatore "Sonny" Peppitone (possibly made)
Joseph Peppitone (possibly made)
Tony "Long" Ricciardi (made)
"Big" Tony Peraino (made)
"Big" Lenny Dello (made)
Salvatore DeSimone
Frank Lattiere

Originally, also Carmine Persico (made) and Jiggs Forlano (made) were with the Gallos but both of them were brought back by Profaci. Many of the guys listed above later abandoned the Gallos."

For example, doubtful if Marco Morelli and Salvatore Mangiamelli was made at the time (early 1960s). And it has been somewhat proven that Joseph Peppitone and Sonny Peppitone were not made.

Thanks for that list HK. On paper it looks like a power house crew. If it worked out, they could've started their own family.

That being said, Gallo was not for nothing called crazy so I wonder why all these guys initially joined him. I think I've read it was Larry who was the real leader because he was more level-headed, true?

Btw, according to your findings Vic Amuso was not associated with the Gallos?

You´re welcome.

I don´t know about Amuso. I never seen him associated with the Gallo crew until it popped up on these forums. I don´t know the original source for that claim. Was it in D´Arco´s book?
