Anyone got a list-by-family of made guys who were either CIs or actually testified (like I think I remember reading Morello testified against some counterfeiting guy or some shit) before Valachi flipped that we know about?

Dominick ‘The Gap’ Petrilli and Eugenio Giannini both of the Gagliano/Lucchese family were both rumored to be informers. I think both were informers for the burea of narcotics and were eventually murdered.

Morello didn't testify. He was considering providing information related to counterfeiting, not necessarily the mafia. Before Valachi informants were utilized differently and you had a several "Greg Scarpas" who were dry informants while being active. Salvatore Clemente of the Genovese became an official informant in 1911 but was providing info as early as 1902. He was paid until the mid 1920's and his status as an informant wouldn't surface for another 100 years.

Greg Scarpa started informing before Valachi, it's how the FBI knew about "Causa[sic] Nostra", which surprised Valachi when they asked about it.

I couldn't get through it, whoever wrote that seems drunk and can't get to the point. Sally Shields (Not Solly as the writer keeps calling him) had an idiot for a co defendant in the case that got him 20 years when he was 20 years old in 1932. I can't recall the name but he kept making a show of falling asleep and snoring out loud to show he did not give a damn about the court, judge, or jury. Shileds got caught taking the flack along along with him even though he sat quietly during the trial.

Peter Sardini gave a lengthy confession in Sing Sing in 1932 in exchange to take the death penalty off the table. He had info on Joe Masseria, Manfredi Mineo and others. The state didn't believe him and executed him.

By 1955, regarded as a “Top Hoodlum” by the FBI, an agency informant reported that Patriarca owned a “one-quarter interest in a million-dollar gambling house being built in Las Vegas, Nevada.” Although unknown at the time, that property was the Dunes Hotel, which was to open on May 23, 1955. Another informant reported on March 31 of hearing that Patriarca “in association with John Berborian, a well-known Providence gambler, and about ten other unidentified individuals, has purchased shares of stock or invested money in a gambling establishment” in Las Vegas and the “reported owner and moving force” of the casino was Joseph Sullivan, a member of a New Bedford, Massachusetts, family and widely known in illegal gambling circles in the Pawtucket-Providence area.” The FBI in Boston passed the information on to the agency’s office in Salt Lake City, which then held jurisdiction over Las Vegas.

Not sure if the informant was made...but he may have been. This was more common than one would think.
