Betty Amato, wife of Frank "Sonny" Amato Jr and daughter in law to longtime Pittsburgh boss Frank Amato Sr. passed away. Her brother, Fred Burdell Jr. was the Police Chief in Braddock for many years and protected the entire Amato Operation in the East End. She also hit the lottery for $12.3 million in the early 2000's as did Sonny Ciancutti's wife Sylvia. The FBI always wondered if they knew how to rig machines. Anyhow, thought this was worth posting.

Did she hit the lottery before or after Frank died?
Re: Frank "Sonny" Amato Jr.'s wife passed away
It happened back in 1991.

It really is. The guy was never indicted and then his wife hits the lottery. Who said crime doesn't pay?"It just seemed too good to be true."

Thanks for the link.

Yeah something aint right for two mob wives to hit the lotto big like that. How would they rig the machines? They had to be under high security theyd have to break in and weight the balls they want differently somehow, interesting. Could be dumb luck but I doubt it, had to know someone on the inside of the lottery. Wish there was more about thisJCB1977 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 12:05 pm Betty Amato, wife of Frank "Sonny" Amato Jr and daughter in law to longtime Pittsburgh boss Frank Amato Sr. passed away. My guess was always Pat Ferruccio due to his expert knowledge on machines. But who knows?Fughedaboutit wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 4:47 pmYeah something aint right for two mob wives to hit the lotto big like that. How would they rig the machines? Either way it was an impressive operation to rig a state lottery like that.JCB1977 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 5:33 pmMy guess was always Pat Ferruccio due to his expert knowledge on machines. Re: Frank "Sonny" Amato Jr.'s wife passed away
Amato hit the jackpot in 1991 and I believe Ciancutti's wife Sylvia hit it in 1992. I guess it "could" happen but the odds are so big that I have to believe it was rigged. What's funny is the FBI investigated and got nowhere...
