There was an old guy in a red shirt eyeballing me as I walked by, so I waited a bit and walked past with my phone to my ear. I was walking too fast to get a good shot, but I'll return to the scene of the crime for round two.

I'm with my girlfriend who doesn't give a fuck as long as we do certain touristy things.

Why dont you walk in there and ask them how to join ? your from new Zealand and want to hang with some real new Yorkers , hell they might even buy you a beer. worst case they tell you to kick rocks

Not a bad idea, although it would be pretty suspicious for a tourist to walk into a nondescript "members only" place like Petey Red's social club.

In 1993 my girlfriend walked into the Ravenite and asked if they were open. Someone yelled "it's PRIVATE" and she played dumb. Actually she was dumb but that's another story.

Wow . Iimagine they got plenty of mob-seeking tourists by that point though.

Because I believe that the guy I photographed took notice of me and I’ve still got four more days in New York of visiting so-called “mob hangouts.”

The picture/footage I got isn’t of great quality to be honest, but it at least proves that I’m not lying about who I saw. I didn’t overhear anything particularly incriminating but it was interesting nonetheless.

Awesome! You’re taking the same route I took a year ago. Visited all the places you have. 285 mott Street is where louis consalvo has a cafe. Saw him there.
447 court street in carrroll gardens you’ll find cittadini Molesi sosial club. Supposedly Albert gallo hangs out there. That guy I would love a picture of.

One of the best pizzas I've ever had! I am also a fan of The Pizza Wagon on 5th. Great Sausage and meatball pizza!

I'm from New York and still live here, while Howard Beach has Italians, it also has Jews, Germans, Irish, and a growing Asian population. Its very suburban, and is no "italian enclave" They don't congregate on corners much, although there are more than the real top Queens. No one is going to walk around Howard Beach and meet gangsters, same for Staten Island, unless they walk into a specific place at a specific time, like when there is a get together. Where are you from, New Jersey?

It nice spot, but too greasy for me. People love it though, so my taste is different. I had the rice balls, ok but dripping grease. Years ago Bensonhurst had 2 great spots for rice balls, both were on 18th avenue, both are gone. Gino's was the better, it's still talked about on sites like Yelp.com

Yeah I’m from Jersey and still live in Jersey. Tons of Italians here everywhere . By enclaves I meant areas with tons of Italians.
