Sam the plumber transcript
I was recently reading the classic Sam the plumber book by Henry Ziegler published way back. On page 258 Sam is talking to Lou larosso and brings up that Carlo gambino has told him that Joe biondo is no longer underboss for the Gambinos and Sam says that Carlo is feeling him out about promoting his cousin Richard as new underboss. Obviously Sam must mean Paul Castellano unless there was someone else. But Sam quotes Carlo as saying he is worried it'll look like a family thing. But Sam says if you like him make him. Interesting to hear/read that even then Carlo saw the potential conflict of interests in making Paul his underboss back in 1965 so ultimately went with dellacroce. I wonder if even back then there were factions within the family because carlos time is portrayed as peaceful and prosperous but is it possible there was an undercurrent of us and them with certain members?

Re: Sam the plumber transcript
Isn’t this about the time Gambino made Castellano acting boss?
Why did Gambino remove Biondo from UB?

If I remember right. It had to do with a dispute with the garbage rackets. I want to say Biondo was skimming/holding back money from it but I can't say for sure without checking the book. Castellano was named Acting Boss in 1967.

But why did Carlo make Neil underboss and not Paul? Clearly Carlo was going to name Paul as his successor way back in 65 so why suddenly name Neil instead even if eventually he did name Paul as acting boss? If we are to believe that he named Neil ub because it kept the Anastasia faction happy then does it mean that the gambino family was not as united as during Carlos reign?
Re: Sam the plumber transcript
There was a recent post that says they held an election to replace Gambino when he died. So if true Carlo named or wished to have Paul as his successor, they still held an election. The candidates were Paul, Dellacroce and Joe Gallo. It's unclear at some points of the thread if the election would have been honored, seeing there is someone claiming Paul had him armed in the attic. Those guys could have been there for security or self protection though.don-shunter wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2019 10:18 am But why did Carlo make Neil underboss and not Paul? Re: Sam the plumber transcript
Joe Bonanno talked about how an election for a new Boss goes. How it is not a real election where whoever gets a simple majority wins and becomes the Boss. He described the election as a way of establishing a consensus in the family and how it is already known who the new Boss would be before the election even happens. The election being a mere formality. We saw this play out in the elections with Gotti and Massino. I'd imagine it was the same for Castellano.

Re: Sam the plumber transcript
I think it's pretty safe to say there were factions during Gambino's reign, he was just better at managing them than Castellano.
From looking through the Sam the Plumber book (my copy doesn't have an index), Gambino and Biondo had a difference of opinion, Gambino wanted to talk to him about it, but Biondo refused to meet him alone, which pissed Gambino off. Biondo was also involved with an associate called Joe Fiolo, who was stealing garbage stops from Joe Colombo. Plus Biondo was living with a prostitute.
What I found interesting was that DeCavalcante says a committee of seven had been formed to approach Biondo about his attitude.

Not to split hairs but did you mean Joseph "Joey Surprise" Feola who disappeared on 19 april 1965? Sam the Plumber did a favor for Gambino by arranging for him (Feola) to disappear. Feola was in the garbage business and stole the Ford Motor Company stop in New Jersey from Gambino (or one of his connected garbage people). DeCavalcante member Louis LaRasso was either heavily and or directly involved in the disappearance of Feola. However, if this is not the guy you were referring to then scusa mi.

Living with a prostitute for a man like that is very unusual, is that in the transcripts? I read the book so long ago I forgot most of it, I want to read it again. Even better, I wish I could read the full unedited transcripts.MightyDR wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 3:48 pm I think it's pretty safe to say there were factions during Gambino's reign, he was just better at managing them than Castellano.

Jeremy they are not the logo of a cow. They are a picture of a donkey, a ciuccio. They are all around in the rural parts of South of Italy.JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 7:42 pmarent the guy w the cow logo and other account named BINGO w the same cow logo???Cacuzza wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 7:16 pmNot to split hairs but did you mean Joseph "Joey Surprise" Feola who disappeared on 19 april 1965? That's him. In the entry for April 19, they talk about Joe "Fiolo" being murdered. The FBI theorized Gambino had asked DeCavalcante to do the deed. Seems like he was garrotted by Frank Cocchiaro. The book gets some names wrong e.g. Pussy Russo is called Pussy Rizzo.Cacuzza wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 7:16 pmNot to split hairs but did you mean Joseph "Joey Surprise" Feola who disappeared on 19 april 1965? That's what it says in the book. I wish I could read the unedited transcripts too for little bits of info the author didn't pick up. However, the author did a pretty good job at analyzing everything.

Can't two friends use the same pic or do you have a problem with that too? Besides, what is it to you anyway and what do you care? I would be careful about making false accusations and drawing false conclusions. What are you the self appointed board police now? If I were you I would focus more on the content of someonse post and not get hung up on irrelevant details like the avatar they chose to use, even if the same pic is used by multiple people. I also suggest you brush up on your animal identification. A cow and a donkey are two very different animals. If you lack the ability to recognize that then how do you order when you go out to eat? Hey Jeremy take a look in the mirror sometime and see if a big ciuccico like this one is looking back at you. Hee haw.JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 6:49 amso why r u using 2 accounts w same pic?Cacuzza wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 8:12 pmJeremy they are not the logo of a cow.
