Best- This is a cliche and a common one, but HOFFA. Perfectly executed, body never found, nobody ever charged and still a mystery all these years later.

Worst - Anthony Nicodemo and Gino Dipietro. Broad daylight, public place...caught shortly after the hit with the gun in his own car. Terrible in every way possible.

I actually thought the Castellano hit itself was brilliant. The russian hats, the christmas shopping...the confusion...If sammy never rats maybe it gets by. But they did involve a lot of fucking people for it.

The worst one was the one that backfired when three Detroit mobsters went to whack someone, who turned the tables on them and killed them instead.

Worst: Three Bonanno Captains, too many people involved, rats and they shot one of their own guys by accident and he ends up in a wheelchair. Body poorly disposed of.

Worst: The Columbo family's hit on prosecutor Anonwald, but killed his dad Judge Anonwald.

Tommy Ryan Eboli was a good one. Acting boss of the west side and no one ever really figured out who did it. Or ordered it for that matter. Popular theory was Gambino ordered it but I never bought into that theory.

Worst was Costello. Point blank range and Chin just grazed his skull. Why didn’t he empty his gun on him?

Giancana & the St. Valentines Day Massacre.

Giancana because nobody was ever prosecuted for it and it is still a mystery.
St. Valentines Day Massacre because it was so brazen. Guys dressed like cops lining up several guys against a wall and shooting them.
Unbelievable and way ahead of its time in my opinion.
