Crea Jr. always seems like a stable man and a smart guy, plus he made a lot of honest money. Staying involved with who he did is his one fault. I think a lot of people were jealous of him, the a lot of brokesters hate anyone who has money, which may be why some rats are saying he was unstable. Or he lost his mind as the years have gone by.

A few small points regards CW-2.

They mention CW-2 by name, Spinelli.
This on top of the box of recordings the Feds gave the Lukes, jeezus both prosecutors and the FBI put lives in danger in a single case.

Picking Chin's Crew of all things is pretty dumb then just in case it got back to them and caused problems between the Luke's and Westside. Surely it'd be more beneficial just denying any knowledge. I agree with you btw that's most likely what happened, just seems needlessly risky.

the more I read this document and think about the indictment the more I realize how big of an asshole Crea Sr. is. obviously a serious guy, a true believer and a gangster to the core. but look at some of the things going on.

shaking down and leaning hard on one of his own captains to the point where the guy damn near goes broke and ends up getting involved in a drug conspiracy - with someone who ends up ratting

has his own kid in LCN and drags him into a murder conspiracy (or was it the other way around? crea junior causing senior to get indicted?). Senior was plugged into so many legit industries at high levels all over the tri-state. unless Junior was a total moron, which he doesnt seem to be, he could have guided the kid into working for a developer, a GC, building supplies, etc... instead he gears him into LCN and has him hanging around drug dealers and theives constantly looking for a score

then he sends the youngest associates he has, multiple times, to go clip a guy over an insult at a social club. i mean as a gangster that comes with the territory...protecting your rep...but he couldnt have thrown the guy a beating?

on top of all that it seems there may have been some contention with Madonna? maybe im reaching there, but Datellos comments made it seem that way a little

id be very surprised if Crea Senior was well liked and well regarded. respected and feared, absolutely. but i doubt he was a guy too many people were happy to spend time around

and poor Datello. another LCN to the core guy. caught a bad break twice having guys close to him turn rat right under his watch
