The American mafia was focused with heroin because his ties with the sicilian mafia and the Corsicans.In the 1970s 1980s the various crew sold many tons of coke like Henry Hill trought paul mazzei,Eugene "Nick the Blade" Gesuale or the zagaria crew in cleveland but was replaced as topguys by the colombians and at least by the mexican.Plus the fact that risk harsh sentence even for few grams let the mobsters to turn to the traditional rackets like bookmaking,loansharking ecc that made less money but you can stay away from prison and enjoy the $$$.
