How did George Zappola get so close to Lucchese bosses at such a young age? Which murders did Zappola get convicted of? Could it be possible that, due to his plot to kill crea, Zappola was chased, after bein released from prison?

He plead guilty to several murders including Jimmy Bishop's, the Painters Union official killed in 1990. Not sure which others he plead to specifically but we know he was involved in the murder of Mike Pappadio, the wrong Nicky Guido, the attempt on Pete Chiodo and the conspiracy to murder Crea. Was also charged with the slayings of Richard Taglianetti and Bonnano associate Richard Guiga.

If i remember correctly in D'Arco's book Capeci writes how Zappola was like Casso's adopted son and favorite hitter, detailing how Casso gave Zappola a gold watch with some heartfelt message inscribed about being a "true friend" or something.

wait a second...how the fuck is this guy outta jail?! how did he get such a sweet plea deal? some of those lucchese guys got deals of the century. conte, lastorino...and zappola!? multiple murders and out to see the light of day. egregious murders too. the painting union guy hit and the nicky guido "hit" would have gotten any "normal" person life in prison

i wonder if any of it has to do with al d'arco's son being involved in some of the hits, with the FBI taking him on and giving him full immunity before even knowing about his murders?

really stumped trying to figure this one out. those guys got lucky. im not a big hang-em judge roy bean type but Zappola is exactly the type of guy who belongs in jail for the rest of his life

forget off the top of my head but it was in D'Arco's book that Conte, Joe D'Arco, Patty Testa and Anthony Senter were all made in the same ceremony in Canarsie. Amuso did the speeches and his brother Bobby did the finger pricking.

not sure of the year, it may have been 88? regardless, it didnt mention Zappoloa being made in this ceremony, but considering he was of similar age and trajectory, it'd be surprising if he wasnt made in this ceremony

Yes in Casso's book he says his father was in his by-pass gang and they where close friends. His dad was with the Genovese, got killed, it had something to do, with a score, maybe not sharing idk. Apparently the younger zappola swore revenge etc, and the Genovese were going to kill him to. Casso then I guess changed his mind about the revenge and put him on record with the Lucchese.

I have an article on George Zappola Sr's murder. His head and one of his hands was found washed up on a beach. He was also the suspect or person of interest in a horse breeders murder. I would post the article but I don't know how to post images.
