Portland is the same way.

Well WG, looks like we're both having quiet Friday night?
Hope you are well. :)

I swear to you, if you ever lived in Los Angeles for more than a few years, you wouldn't be saying that. You'd be saying, "I don't blame him." L.A. has turned into a Socialist shit hole with more rules, regulations, citations, fines, inspections, taxes and traffic grid lock eighteen hours a day that makes it impossible to get through an intersection on one phase of a green light.
Yeah, but to move back to Cleveland or Buffalo? What, Flint, Michigan was full?
I am sure your just a debutaunt of society

Tony Monte wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2019 6:27 pm I know the LA family is pretty much defunct but whatever happened to some of the guys who are still around? Like Louie Caruso, Tommaso Gambino, and Pauly Rossi? With Tommy Gambino mafia heritage I’m sure he is involved someone and he and Louie Caruso were kinda tight did they maybe link up with Sicilian crews or maybe NY family?
The family is defunct. Last even minor case was 20 years ago. Here are the surviving members, assuming they're all still alive at this point. Ages (and other details) may need some updating.

1. Louis "Little Louie" Caruso/59 - owns Golden Air, Inc. and Caruso Mechanical Services in Phoenix, AZ

2. Michael "Porno Mike" Esposito/69 - owns Gentleman's Video (adult film company) in Los Angeles, CA

3. Thomaso "Tommy" Gambino/42 - runs Royal Entertainment, Inc, reported by US House Committee to be underboss in March 2002

4. Russell "Russ" Massetta/65 - was made in Los Angeles, now lives in Cleveland, married to Pete Milano's sister

5. Leonardo "Limping Lenny" Montana/83 - bookmaker, owns Enzo's Pizzeria in Los Angeles, CA

6. Robert "Fat Bobby" Paduano/75 - involved in 1991 drug case, loanshark

7. Rocco "Rocky Bigfoot" Zangari/83 - moved back to Buffalo, inactive
4. one minor correction masetta was married to Milano’s daughter , also worth pointing out he may of been sent packing back to Cleveland aka shelved

Since the family is extinct, is there another family with interest or operations in LA?

Thanks for the clarification.

You could probably count the number of made guys living in the entire state of California on two hands. You see an ocassional ad-hoc connection from time to time. For example, the Paradiso crew was shipping high-end marijuana from legal farms in California back to New York. There may still be some minor legit interests but that's only a guess. But there's no permanent crews out there or anything like that. Probably the most significant thing is the mob's sports betting networks that still extend out to Nevada, Arizona, and California. But generally speaking, the LCN has very little presence out west now.
All roads lead to New York.

Montemarano is probably not a capo, in that he has no known made guys under him in California. Kenny Gallo named him a capo, but he didn't go into further detail and didn't ever mention anything about Montemarano's crew. Jerry Capeci named him a soldier, and his activities in Los Angeles have been limited to rumored involvement in college football match fixing, which the FBI investigated but couldn't find anything.
I don't know dick about dick.

The LCN activity is non existent out west (I live here). There are opportunities to earn I’m sure but there’s not a large Italian population to recruit from. Never has been. The LA Family like all other California Families could never replenish their ranks. Most “organized” crime here is Hispanic or Black street gang or Mexican Cartel.

I understood, thanks for the explanation guys, as many have said it seems that in a few years the LCN would have been restricted to the five families, unless something "extraordinary" happens to recruit more Italian guys, I saw in a documentary once said The Godfather drew the attention of young Italian-Americans of the time, who knows if something similar or some mobster like Capone or Gotti draw attention to new members (or I'm dreaming :D )
