So I'm reading the book "Deal with the Devil" by Peter Lance and came across a quote from a summary of Scarpa's information given around 1962.
"Informant stated that one of their requirements is that the father of the proposed member must be of Italian descent, however, the mother maybe be of any other nationality..."
Was that always the case? I was under the assumption that that applied to later generations, as full bloodied Italian Americans became more and more assimilated.
I'm also not too familiar with Scarpa or his time as an informer, would he lie about small things like that?
Any info would be helpful

Thanks! I didn't realize that half Italian's were made in the 50s. I wonder if they were a minority or if it was more common?
Thanks again for the link.

Re: Scarpa question
I'm sure in one of these threads there is a list of guys who weren't full Italians but got made anyway. Off top of my head I can only think of the easy ones but I'm sure there are a few more. Paul SanFilippo, Chucky Porter & Frank Salemme were half Irish. John Gotti Jr was part Russian and Andrew Merola is part Polish.thekiduknow wrote: ↑Sun Feb 17, 2019 7:49 pm Thanks! Re: Scarpa question
I think it all depends on the guy, the circumstances, and who they know. I've heard that Scarpa, had a problem getting made at first because although he was a full Italian his family was from Milan in the north and that stood up him being made.thekiduknow wrote: ↑Sat Feb 16, 2019 11:32 pm So I'm reading the book "Deal with the Devil" by Peter Lance and came across a quote from a summary of Scarpa's information given around 1962.

Re: Scarpa question
There was an article on this subject in the old "Sho'nuff Mob Study" on David's website year ago. It's not up anymore but I'm sure he still has it somewhere if you want to contact him.
I get it....first rule of fight club.
