Yes and at the time of the hits he was basically an unknown. I would imagine that they still have some sort of pipeline of associates that could be called upon for murder.
That was in 2001, 18 years ago.
Yes that was 18 years ago. But my point is that if murder was to be committed, in the present day and age, that it most likely not be a made member doing the hit, but most likely an unknown associate, just like 18 years ago. My opinion about the 2 Calabrese still being alive is that they live for now because the Outfit leadership made a decision that it is not worth the extreme heat that would come from it. Also to kill them would indicate to LE that the Outfit is still powerful, and I believe the Outfit likes the idea of being perceived as being weak. Just my thoughts. Plus the fact that Marcello and Lombardo are gone for ever and they don't have to answer to them

I understand your point but I respectfully disagree. I believe the Outfit doesn't commit any murders because they are too scared to do it knowing they can't get away with it like years ago. Years ago the Outfit was perceived as strong and they committed many murders. The reason was because they could get away with it. Can't happen in 2019. The Outfit doesn't have that kind of political clout in the first ward anymore, there are too many informants, The Feds know too much, there are too many cameras around, the Outfit simply is much weaker etc.....

You could say the same things about any family yet they still commit murders. I just think it's not as necessary as in years past. They don't have thousands of guys to keep in line anymore.

I agree with you that the Outfit is smaller and weaker than before. But the four murders that I mentioned previously have not been solved and that was years after Marcy and Roti we're busted.

The fact that informants walk around free, writing books and giving tours right out in the open, shows the Outfit's weakness. I mean we can try and rationalize it any way, but without fear, the Outfit or any other O.C. group is weak. That is the bottom line.

Charles "Chucky" Russell was caught in tape to an UC that he killed a black guy in the last few years that I think owed money and made it look like a gang murder. He said in the tapes how this was done. There's a "recent" Outfit murder right there I guess.

There's also rats walking around New York. I agree the Outfit is weak but even the strongest families today don't want the trouble and heat of tracking a guy down after the fact when the damage has already been done.
All roads lead to New York.

November 2016 was the murder. He showed an UC ATF agent a photo of the bulletin riddled car and produced a blood spattered drivers license of the victim. FBI confirmed the murder and said it is under investigation. Pretty recent Outfit murder.

Some Families like the ones in New York are to be feared more than other Families but it doesn't change the basic premise that without the fear factor, a Family is doomed to fail at some point.

The current leaders are very wary of hitting anyone and would most likely do it in only extreme situations. Steve mandell was on a wiretap a few years back asking vena for approval to kill a strip club owner and vena told him he didn’t wanna open a can of worms and he didn’t need the heat it would bring

Cool info, thanks. So this Mandell guy is one of Venas crew members or what?
