Dino Sarcino

Post by slimshady_007 »

Couple of questions regarding sarcino since his story interests me: How did dino get involved in OC at such a young age? How many people did Dino clip? And lastly, why didn’t Dino flip? It may be a stupid question, but it baffles me that dino didn’t flip even though he lost his loansharking business and got a ridiculous sentence of 50 years. Were wiseguys taking care of his family while he was inside, and that’s why he didn’t flip?

Saracino was Big Dino Calabro's cousin, who introduced him to organized crime in the late '80s, presumably. I believe he took part in the murders of a total of three people: he shot Richie Greaves in the head after luring him to his basement, he shot Ralph Dols alongside Big Dino Calabro, and took part in the cleanup of the Wild Bill hit.
It's hard to ascertain why some wiseguys flip and some don't. I don't remember if Little Dino was married, but it's my belief that wiseguys who aren't married or don't have children have an easier time keeping their mouths shut because their Mafia ties are the only ties they have. Or perhaps Saracino, being younger, liked his chances of getting out (despite facing the death penalty initially). Being a young wiseguy in your 30s means possibly outliving a long sentence and being rewarded upon your release. After all, he was caught on tape after the mixed verdict saying "I'll gladly take 20 years standing on my head" or words to that effect. Also, being younger, he was probably less cynical and possibly bought in more to the "omerta" mentality.
Who knows.

he got involved in OC at a young age similar to dozens of kids from his neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods did at the time. they had a little crew that rivaled the bath ave bonnano crew at the time, along with jimmy galione's lucchese linked crew, and joey d'angelo's gambino linked crew. there were just tons of little groups of kids in the 80s and 90s doing wild shit. grew up doing robberies, selling drugs, loaning small money until they eventually got noticed. i think his cousin Calabro was the first one to get the "link" to the Colombos, and i belive Saracino doing the Dols hit put him on the fast track to get made

Someone on GBB said the Dols hit wasn’t ordered by Cacace and that joey caves and the two dinos did it just to impress the higher ups. Dont know if there is any truth to that.

Dino was born in Italy. Spent a lot of time there. He's a certified tough guy three times over. When one brother was taking the stand against him, another showed up at trial just do express his disdain for the cooperator. Another brother, frankie dimes, was killed and his body dumped. Dino still stayed in the life and would never in 1000 years cooperate. His parents moved back to italy and that's when he kept using that house in Bensonhurst as a murder spot. He does have a wife. She either oversaw or made sure to account for his collections when he was away and awaiting trial. His cousin Big Dino was a crackhead, dog-killing scum bag. Little Dino could have gone wrong in many ways and didnt. Now he's just going to need to find some peace with the idea most of his life, if not all of it, will be spent behind bars.

I have no idea how big dino became a capo. Seemed like a wannabe pyscho. He must’ve been an amazing earner.

The Saracinos and Calabros are from Castellammare Del Golfo but apparently don't have ties to the Sicilian mafia despite a Mariano Saracino being a recent boss of the CDG family and a Gioacchino Calabro being boss in the 1980s and 90s. Saracino is a name that goes back many generations in the CDG mafia. Interesting too that they didn't end up with the Bonanno family. Even younger generations from CDG have ended up with the Bonannos.

No evidence to indicate that. Big Dino testified that he didn't know he was shooting a cop until he read the news afterward. Ordered by Cacace, passed down through Tommy Shots.
