Looking over old posts I see that Joseph "JoJo" Mamfredi was another one who bought his button.

Here is an old post that quotes information from Valachi. I do remember that Wahoo Msncuso was on JDs list of guys who bought their membership. The JoJo he mentions has to be a reference to Manfredi. Also wasn't it speculated that Patsy Conte also paid for his button? I don't remember if he was on JDs list.

MightyDR wrote: Wed Aug 15, 2018 5:04 pm Hey guys first time, long time. I don't usually have anything to add to the discussion but I do on this.

According to Joe Valachi testifying at the McClellan hearings, when the books opened around 1954, Frank Scalice and Albert Anastasia initiated a couple of hundred members and some of them were "commercialized" as Valachi puts it, paying $40,000 to become a member. According to him they were "kids there who was with Frank Luciano" one called JoJo.

Later on in his testimony, Valachi lists several members who were initiated by Scalice. These include Jimmy Squillante, Jerry Mancuso, Aniello "Wahoo" Mancuso, "ch*nk" Leo, Frank Rocci, Tony the Geep, Mike the Geep, Carmine Camarado, Jimmy Ward, Salvatore Bonfrisco, Jojo and Dudu. Valachi indicates they all paid $40,000 to become members. He also says that some paid with their business and then never saw their business again.

I can upload Valachi's testimony if anyone wants proof. I can't remember what website I downloaded it from.

Sedotto died young. He had a heart attack and signed himself out of the hospital "AMA" and died within a day. Was probably 1976-77 I believe.

Another guy rumored to have paid was John (Johnny Pie) DeMatteo.
There was another zip named Fortunato Cicciu who's name I didn't see.
Also a guy named Pietro, who was a bread baker and for all intents and purposes was inactive into the 70's and 80's. I don't remember the guy's last name, but he was a zip too. There are probably a few more.
For a while all of these guys were on the razors edge of whether they'd be whacked or not, but eventually they were allowed to remain, but largely didn't do all that much with their positions, Loscalzo being the most "active" and out in the open of all of them.
Do we have sources for this?

I grew up on the same block that Loscalzo lived on. (Actually right next door to him) Hung out in the same club that DiMatteo hung out in. Fortunato lived 3 blocks from that club and frequented it pretty often. The baker Pietro was about 2 blocks from my house. The club that I'm talking about was Papa Dave's old place in the Bronx. I mean did I see receipts that said "One button-----50K", no. but it was pretty common knowledge in the neighborhood.

Where was the location of the club?

Since we dont have the info to divide the soldiers into crews, do we want to divide them another way? By regional origin or what NY borough they were in? I can do the former, if people want the soldiers by NY borough I will need help with that. Brooklyn, Bronx etc or deeper like East Harlem or Bensonhurst would be interesting, if the knowledge exists.

I’m just a spectator, but I think by borough/neighborhood would be a good way to divide the soldiers.

1 Amodeo, "Papa" Dave 1957
2 Leo, Arthur 1957
Vincent "Jimmy" Squilante 1950s
--Successors to: Frank Scalise
Scalise´s crew was split between Amodeo and Leo sometime around Scalise´s murder according to CI. Rocco Mazzie may have taken over Squillante´s crew but that´s just my guess.

3 Arcuri, Domenico
--Successor to: James Franco
Lombardozzi took over from Joseph Franco. There was no James Franco in the Gambino Family to my knowledge.

4 Castellano, Paul
--Successor to: Francisco "Frank" Castellano
Correct according to the Valchi chart

5 Colozzo, Joseph

6 Conte, Patsy

7 Corbi, Frank (Baltimore) * see note 1 below
--Successor to: Frank Morici
* Note 1 - The original captain was Frank Morici who stepped down sometime in 1963, I don´t know exactly when.

Yes, the original captain was Patsy Corbi.

8 Dongarra, Charley (semi retired) * see note 2 below 1960
--Successor to: Steven Armone
Acting: Joe N. Gallo

9 Dellacroce, Neil 1957
--Successor to: Armand "Tommy" Rava
Rava´s crew was split between Anthony Rizzo and Neil Dellacroce. JD is the source.

10 Eppolito, Alfred 1958
--Successor to: John "Johnny Roberts" Riboloto
Most likely correct.

11 Ferarra, Peter 1962
--Successor to: Anthony Rizzo
Correct.

12 Gambino, Joseph (Carlo´s brother)

13 Gambino, Paul
--Successor to: Carlo “Carl” Gambino

14 Garofalo, Olympio
--Successor to: Jerome “Jerry Mummy” D'Aquila
Correct.

15 Lombardozzi, Carmine (Under Indictment) * see note 3 below 1957
--Successor to: Joseph Franco
Acting: first Mike Scandifia, then Dominick Castore and lastly Joseph Gennaro
Correct.

16 Angelo Mascia
--Successor to: Anthony “Tony the Geep” Sedotto
Most likely correct.

17 Paterno, Joseph (NJ) 1956
18 Perrone, Frank (NJ) 1950's
--Successors to: Antonio "Bada Noste" Paterno
Correct.

19 Russo, Tommy

20 Scotto, Anthony
--Successor to: Tony Anastasio who died 1963
Correct.

21 Silesi, Joseph (Florida)
--Successor to: Agostino Amato
Not sure about this one. Was Amato a captain? Does anyone know for sure?

22 Stincone, Peter
My guess is that Stincone took over from Gaetano Trupia when he died in the 1940s. But my guess is based on vague speculation.

23 Traina, Joseph

24 Zappi, Terry

25 Zingaro, Joseph * See note 4 below
There you have it, never printed before.
