You can make the argument about whether or not a crime family is legitimate if an associate is helping to call the shots, but I don't think this is important enough to call the family's legitimacy into question. Perhaps, down the road, a member from another crime family might refuse to give Michael the proper respect of a made guy, and perhaps there will be an altercation down the road that calls Michael's legitimacy into question. That would be the only occasion where I can see Michael considering getting an induction into the crime family. But before it comes to that, Michael still has the rest of the Colombos to represent him in any sit-down if need be. I mean, Skinny Teddy is in a halfway house already. Nobody would fuck with Michael Persico knowing that Michael is the only person keeping a leash on his cousin Teddy.
