It's got alot of italian sounding names, but the bookmaking operation-does it say he was paying tribute or anything about him being connected? Or was he running it unfettered but "seems" to have ties b/c of being italian. Really, the construction company attached to No Nose is the only really concrete evidence I can see in the mid 2000s. It doesnt mean it's not there I just dont see where the infiltration is.
The Buttittas were Italian and involved in two very mobbed-up activities, namely bookmaking and a strip club, but I never was able to find an exact connection to the Outfit. Though, all things considered, the chances are better than not.
As for the Emerald casino, DiFrinzo reportedly also tried to get the garbage contract but was denied. The Emerald was one of a few different cases since the early 2000s where people with some type of connection to the Outfit were trying to get involved with a casino, riverboat, etc.
But that's long been the issue when it comes to discussions on the Outfit. There's often these murky, unclear, connections where there's just enough for people to read a whole lot into it and come away with a grandiose idea of things. Often equating general corruption in Chicago with the Outfit and vice versa. Probably why there was outdated and unrealistic view of the Chicago mob for so many years.
