FTR i just got to the part of The Last Godfathers with Pino's death and it said this:

Cassara was ‘Little Shoe’ Greco’s last victim. Riina had rewarded the soldier who had risen to become his chief assassin, claiming a hundred or so lives including that of General Dalla Chiesa, with membership of the Cupola but he now worried that Greco had become too powerful. Young soldiers especially idolised him, queueing to meet him when he received visitors once a week. Riina began to think that Greco might be thinking of adding him to his long list of corpses and told only three other bosses of his decision to eliminate him. ‘They were the only ones in the know because if Greco had got wind of it they would have all had to go and hide, because that guy was capable of walking into a mili¬ tary barracks and shooting all the soldiers in it,’ an informer explained.

Later on it said this:

Riina insisted on seeing the body before it was dissolved in acid; satisfied, he appointed Lucchese to fill Greco’s shoes as clan head.

That suggests to me that Pino was briefly made Boss before his murder then was replaced by Lucchese but it doesn't say anything about Michele. I don't know it's confusing.

he was a member of Ciaculli family (maybe he was made underboss at some point), Michele Greco was the capomandamento
- pino greco
- soldier until november 1982
- boss ciaculli after november 1982 and member of commission
- check statements rosario paolo anzelmo ex-underboss noce
- michele greco
- boss ciaculli until october 1982
- soldier after
Was there a reason given for Michele being demoted? Also did he become Boss again after Pino's murder?

Thanks for clearing all this up Cobra you've been a great help.
i'm not convinced Michele Greco was demoted, this is a bit confusing, in my opinion he was the boss of Ciaculli mandamento and head of the Cupola until 1986 when he was arrested( although the real boss of bosses was always Totò Riina), Pino Greco murder was ordered by Riina in 1985 because he was too ambitious
Yeah, i was surprised about Michele as i thought he was a proper ally of Riina's and wouldn't expect him demoted when Riina was still in power. Could be wrong about that though.

That makes sense as both are listed as on the Commission at the same time, while Riina and Provenzano seems to be either/or one of them represented Corleone at whichever time. Both represented Leggio at different times so they seemed to be perceived as Acting with one Boss (Leggio then Riina) regardless of the actual reality of the situation (Provenzano and Riina seem to have been both Bosses at the same time in reality, even if not officially) but Michele and Pino being on it together is more confusing and what you said is the most likely explanation.

Maybe Leggio's ill health introduced the idea of a more rotating Corleone Group and they just stuck to it. That makes sense since the Corleonesi were supposedly incredibly secretive about who their members were, would make sense that they did the same with their Bosses. The only reason Buscetta had Riina above Provenzano from what i understand is because he was smarter in his opinion which could suggest he wasn't sure.

Michele Greco i believe. Although i've seen Pino listed as a Boss himself in some places.

So it sounds like DiMino is no longer boss unless Friscia is acting.
