I do understand to what you're referring because, in a number of languages, a single word can signify different relatives. For example, in Italian, "nipote" means
nephew, niece, grandchild, grandson, and
granddaughter.
But I'm fairly certain that in countries where English predominates, when you refer in
English to your nephew, you are talking either about the son of your sister or brother, or the son of your brother-in-law or sister-in-law.
Who is this Emanuele Rizzuto mentiond on page 1 of this thread?
