Hi guys,
My dad was John Deep, he passed away in 2000. He ran the gambling operations for Bobby I in the 70's and later on with Junior Williams in the 80's. I've done some digging and the the below articles are the only ones that I could find not hidden behind a pay wall. I have plenty of stories that I'd love to share and have a couple pictures that I can post of my dad and Junior Williams up his camp that my dad built for him in Tionesta.
My dad owned Charlie Brown's bar which he renamed to Mr. Lucky's after he got sued by Charlie Schulz (true story) in Bridgeville, PA. He also owned the Galerie/Orsini's which is now The Railyard in Bridgeville. These were all places that Bobby I and other Pittsburgh LCN would frequent back in the day. He also owned several apartments and townhouses that his guys would rotate around to take their bets. All bets were written on rice paper with a bucket of water next to them in case of a bust. After my dad got out of Lewisburg, he and Bobby I had a falling out. I don't know the details or time frame but he later became (or maybe already was) good friends with Junior Williams. He started working for/with Junior and ran the 900 Club in McKees Rocks for him until it got busted in 1989.
A lot of you seem very knowledgeable and I was hoping to get more information regarding the Pittsburgh gambling scene back then and if I'm lucky enough, information/stories regarding my dad. I have more one off stories that I've heard from my dad and others that I can share if people are interested. Hope to hear back from you guys!
Derek
