His name pops up in the book Takedown about the garbage rackets. He was caught on tape planning to wack Sal Benedetto, by using a black guy, or something like that..... I forget who he planning it with... I'm away from my books at the moment...

When Carlo Gambino died in 1976, Tom Masotto was identified by LE as being to the funeral. The reporter, Nicholas Gage who covered the Mafia a lot in the 1960s and 1970s, described Masotto as a captain. He cited LE sources.
Is that the same people Masotta and masotto?
It would make sense masotto was at the funeral he and Carlo Gambino were cousins , there moms were sisters
Yes same people. Tom and Paul are however two different individuals, probably brothers. According to bronx, Paul was later murdered. I don't have any details on the murder.
So no idea why he was killed and by whom?

Tommy Massotta, in the Colombo book at the time of the House of Chan incident in 68, had to have least been high ranking soldier and possible relative of Carlo Gambino that was closely associated with him. You have 3 Bosses; Carlo Gambino and 2 other bosses closely aligned with him in Joe Colombo and Angelo Bruno. The other guys there are Vinny Aloi, a high ranking capo, future acting boss and also a close associate of Carlo. Then John Scimone, who was close to Colombo Administration members since the 50s and (I think) reported directly to Colombo at the time.
