You know we are losing time with these old LCN members that are still alive. Especially the ones that have broke omerta. There is so many unanswered questions that could be solved by guys like DArco. He might be able to solve some of the uncertainties about leadership history of Families, who did the actual hits and who ordered them. The histories of Families, seems to know about Newark and the current Jersey Family history. Its amazing that almost every question has 5 or more different answers. Lol maybe if we got somebody like him to give a complete factual history of the LCN it would make it even more con
Yeah, I'd love to ask D'Arco more about this "la Chiesa" first family that he says existed in Jersey and led to the formation of what's now the Lucchese family. Anything more he could add to it would be something even if it's just a myth.
Accetturo is one who might have some more concrete info on the Newark family and general Jersey history. From his bit in Selwyn Raab's book we know Accetturo is familiar with the story about the Newark family being disbanded, so he may have more info on that. He was around many old timers and there are indications that the Lucchese Jersey crew split off or at least took members from the Newark family, possibly even former boss Badami. Accetturo and his relatives seem to live pretty openly and obviously he worked with Raab for that book, might be worth reaching out.
I'd also have other questions for D'Arco about the former captain of his crew Curiale. He mentions something in his book about Curiale going back to the days when there was just one family in Brooklyn. Just like the "la Chiesa" thing, that's probably a distorted take on whatever the set-up is, but it could have been a reference to the days when the D'Aquila(Gambino) and Mineo(Colombo) families were the same and others like Yale hadn't been brought under the Genovese flag, leaving most of Brooklyn under D'Aquila's family except for Williamsburg and those neighborhoods dominated by Schiro's people. With the way Brooklyn in particular shakes out in the 1920s/30s, with Mineo possibly swapping families as boss, members of the Yale crew splitting off into at least three different families, and signs that other Brooklyn guys swapped families, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that Curiale was with another family. The Gambino family did have a large Agrigento faction going back to Curiale's time, can't think of another NYC family who did back then.
EDIT: Want to add that Curiale crew member Schiavo (D'Arco's sponsor) was most likely from Castellammare and Paul Vario's family was from Trapani and he had strong ties with the Bonanno family. This could point to the crew having a history with the Bonanno family as well.
