Milazzo from Detroit was killed by outsiders
Well that would be during Prohibition, and I really don't want to get into an in depth discussion of what Milazzo/Scibilia's role was in the Detroit gangs(although I don't think it would have been the equivalent of an administration position), but why would his murder be done by outsiders? I don't think LeMare gunmen would count as outsiders.

Boss John Avena in Philly is believed to have been killed by the Lanzetti brothers, who were an Italian gang with a number of other Italians working for them but they were a fully independent rival group, not members or associates of the Philly family. At least a few former Lanzetti associates were later absorbed and made into the Philly family.

I don't have the links to the articles right now, but I am sure somebody named Gaetano Milano was convicted as the triggerman and 2 others as accomplices. Nobody was convicted for giving the order, but I think it was alleged it was the Russo-Carrozza group (I think these were the last names). Wasn't Russo also the triggerman who killed Joe Barboza in the 70s?

Will check more articles later, but here are 2 on the subject, among the first ones coming up after I typed "Gaetano Milano" "Grasso" and "Carrozza" on google:

Wasn't Vincent Rotondo's murder a little unclear as to who did it or why? I forget which crappy book and made for TV movie had it as Gambino revenge against the Genoveses for Decicco somehow. Which was just idiotic. But was it ever determined who it actually was?

And do we actually know who killed William Grasso in 1989? I mean who literally committed it? Not sure if that was farmed out.

Albert Anastasia. Although he was killed by members of his own family it was really ordered by Tommy Lucchese and Vito Genovese.

John Bazzano, boss of Pittsburgh, was killed in New York City in 1932 by members of the Luciano, Mangano, Buffalo and Pittsburgh families.

Sam Pollaccia, former Joe Masseria consigliere, was allegedly killed in Chicago by Paul Ricca and Vito Genovese.

Nick De John, former Chicago caporegime, was killed in San Francisco by members of the SF and Chicago Families.

Funzi Tieri blamed this on the Irish gangster Mickey Spillane, who was the boss in Hell's Kitchen before Jimmy Coonan and the Westies took over. But I read it's generally thought that Tieri himself ordered Zeccardi killed, and blamed Spillane to avoid problems, and was believed because Spillane had a "habit" already to kidnap mafiosi for ransom, although nobody got killed. By the way, anyone knows who exactly from the Cosa Nostra did Spillane kidnap? Even if Zeccardi's death most likely was attributed to him by Tieri who was himself responsible, but which kidnappings (even non-fatal) did he really order against the Cosa Nostra?
That's interesting , I don't know anything on the subject . I look forward to reading about it . Thanks for sharing
