Wow 11 guys? I know he was a very violent individual and he was possibly a suspect in Joey Chang and Stanfa highway shooting. Who else has he allegedly clipped?
Lou Moncello testified that Borgesi told him that he was involved in 11 murders. If true, then he dodged the feds pretty well. He only served 14 years, including the extra 2.5 years he was held without bail during his two trials.
Was his crew disbanded while he was in prison or did someone take it over?
If I remember correctly he was identified as a captain in the Ligambi case. He was still running things on the street through Monacello but he had no made guys under him. Kind of like how Chickie Ciancaglini kept his rank after being locked up in 1983 but the made guys under him were sent to Salvie Testa. When Borgesi is released he is reportedly demoted to soldier and then promoted back to capo around 2016
I have a feeling if borgesi wanted in the admin or a street boss role it was his for the taking
Bent finger Lou and another associate who name escapes were running borgesi’s operations up until they were all indicted

Shaking down bookies , loan sharking and bookmaking seemed to be there rackets

I don't know if his crew was disbanded or taken over. When he got out of prison in Jan 2014 it was reported that there was bad blood between him and some member of the Family. Reports indicated he was no longer a Capo. Marty Angelina had taken over his territory. Then it was said that he asked Merlino for permission to wack Angelina and was denied. Lost a sit down. Ciacaglini then was said to be running his old territory. Then it was either 2016 or 2017 he was reportedly back in Joey Merlino's good graces and became a Capo again.

He didn't personally kill 11. Those are just the number he was involved with. Basically all the hits the Merlino crew has been involved with. I don't recall him being named as a shooter himself in any hit.

I saw a video where Tommy DelGiorno says that Nicky Scarfo Sr gave him a contract to kill Joey and how he didn't want to do it. This was the beginning of the end as he saw he was a marked man and would later flip.
Joey is probably one of the luckiest guys in America survived numerous murder plots by various people and had a 500k bounty on his head.

At the very least he should be doing life without parole but he has Eddie Jacobs as a lawyer.

He has probably gotten away with more crimes and other stuff then the FBI or public will ever know.

There wouldn't be desperation if they know they will be able to put him behind bars for life soon anyway.
Then again, this was a New York case. The rumours of the feds working on a family-wide RICO case come from the Philadelphia branch. Law enforcement doesn't have a stellar record in terms of internal communication and co-ordination. The whole point of the 2015 Christmas party was getting him up in NYC so they had the jurisdiction to indict him. They all want the glory for getting Merlino. I think that explains why New York hit him with this relatively weak case; it's because each wants to get him before the other does. I don't think Merlino getting the maximum sentence for this means that the Philly branch aren't currently targeting him also.
I respectfully disagree wholeheartedly. The NY FBI office has far more important crime figures to focus on besides Jockey Merlino. They wanted Parello and his Bronx crew. Jockey was just gravy on top. Merlino has NEVER been into the heavy stuff of organized crime. No labor racketeering, major narcotics, construction etc. NY doesn’t give a fuck about the half pint, he’s a pimple on their ass compared to who they’re watching.
You could be right there, but I'll stick to my point that the NY office indicting Merlino doesn't necessarily rule out the Philadelphia office working on something at the same time.
Offices almost never like working together. Glory hogs, never communicate
The Detroit, Pittsburgh, Philly, Scranton & Cleveland offices always worked well together. I’m not sure which FBI offices you are referring to but the 5 that I mentioned have historically worked in conjunction with one another. I am not sure about Boston/NY/Philly offices working with each other.
