Where is your compassion for the Maryland Dad? Don’t you believe in the divine spark?

Doing time in the Feds isn't that bad Italians do just fine. State prison is certainly different but guys like Pennisi and a host of others got along just fine also.

In the 50's there were PLENTY highly intelligent super astute businessmen mafiosi who believe me if pump and dumps were a viable racket back then would have been neck deep in it and if you think there are no tough guys out there on the street today I don't know what to tell you I guess guys like Mikey Y, Genie Gotti, Craig Marino, Ray Argtina and on and on are just punks.

Wiseguys absolutely still get respect in criminal circles, ms13 a mindless band of migrants who don't even respect themselves Cosa Nostra on a different plane of criminality.

Obviously things aren't what they used to be but what is?

I enjoy a good argument myself.

In regards to what Cheech said Cosa Nostra has always been a business networking organization at it's core and those semi legit business guys have always been there but now it seems like they'll be playing a larger part and making up more of the bulk of the organization then those full time criminal john gotti vinny asaro types.

My belief is this is the best time to be a wiseguy. as the traditional ways of making money have dissipated (extortion, numbers) new ones have popped up (crypto pump & dump, pay day loans). there are no murders and fbi i trailing you every day. least amount of active members (the ones in the chart section arent all active i.e. vinny butch corraro) and most of the jury pool thinks youre an ok guy. the mob has turned into a semi legit organization that only is on the fringes of illegality instead of being draped in it. its more of a breakfast group of guys giving each other referrals from construction to restaurants (gigi and toddaro)
My only pushback would be prison time is way different.
1950's you'd have a large italian/white pop so you'd be safe. Today, 70% black. Have fun with that.

My only also pushback ;) would also be you're talking about two different people. 1950's wiseguy couldn't tell you jack about wall street, couldn't name a stock to save their lives. Today's crypto (Crypo-Nostra!) Pump, etc are not tough, nor street and couldn't even bullshit play a wiseguy.

My also also also construction, port, airports have more oversight committees than ever, fbi has more techniques than ever, wiseguys aren't respected (think ms13 fears or respects wiseguys today? 50 years ago Italians fought blacks on the streets, when does that happen now)

So no respect, no joy in prison, no ports, committees everywhere, surveillance up the yang, no tough guys, and you can gamble on line.

Once loansharking is legal (see credit card interest rates) its over. I mean it's over, but then it's really really over.

I just like to argue ;)

Pretty sure he was made.
Yeah, Caruana was identified as a member.

he only gesture of sympathy for Zottola's dilemma came from ex-acting Bonanno boss Vincent (Vinny Gorgeous) Basciano who is serving a life sentence. In taped talks from prison that Basciano had with Sally Daz and his son Salvatore, he told the Zotollas he would "make some calls" to "friends" on the street for them. But help never arrived. Basciano's Bronx-based successor, current Bonanno boss Michael (Mikey Nose) Mancuso, ignored the desperate longtime associate of his crime family.
My point being is Basciano reached out to the Bonanno family for help and they ignored his requests. Doesn't paint the picture of someone having influence in the famiky still. IIRC, Basciano even suggested it may be the son targeting them.
Basciano literally gave the green light to the Albanians to kidnap the old man. He didn’t give a shit

Since made guys are not getting killed anymore, I’ve suspected that the guys that are being put on the shelf are either getting severely assaulted right on the spot or targeted for assaults or robbery later on.
