That was the case with Mike Coppola (who used Philip Lombardo and others in this capacity) and Tommy Greco (Joe Loiacono and Joe Lapadura) for example. In Alo´s case, Jerry Laietta, Nick Rattenni and possibly later Centore may have been three individuals who acted in his stead.
Wow very interesting. Weren't Rattenni and Centore leading Bronx crews eventually? Or even further up to Westchester?
Depends on who you ask. East Bronx would say definitely they were both official captains later on. Centore is listed as such on a LE chart (NYPD if memory serves) dated in 1983. But those charts made by the NYPD have serious flaws. Rattenni was never listed as an official captain by any law enforcement agency. Not saying he never was a skipper, just saying I haven´t seen anything confirming this. If JD sees this thread, he may be able to help out. Both were originally Bronx based. Rattenni moved his operations to Yonkers early on and Centore moved his headquarters to Yonkers in the early 1980s.

Charles and Thomas Sr. are listed in many places as Genovese members. According to one informant, their father Pietro was a member as well, and he sponsored Newark Genovese member Carmine Battaglia for membership. The same informant claimed that Battaglia sponsored Pietro Campisi's sons Charles and Thomas Sr. in return. There is speculation (not sure where it comes from) that Pietro Campisi and Carmine Battaglia were originally with the Newark family before it split up.
Picasso was adamant that none of them were made except for Petey Black Campisi, who was made with the Colombos, and Peter White Campisi, who was made with the Gambinos (and later murdered). Are there any other people/places that say those were the only two members? If he's the only source of that info it can't be trusted.
Gasparo and Tommaso Campisi are listed as made Genovese members on FBI charts. Their father Pietro may very well have been made as well, but he was inactive way before those charts were made. Charles Campisi was also listed as made on one chart dated in 1964. But his name does not come up on "members who died-lists" later on. Seems to suggest that he actually wasn´t made. I tend to believe Pic what he said about Pipi Campisi being a Gambino captain before he was murdered in 1983. I´ve seen him mentioned in FBI documents as such. Apparently, he took over from Frank Perrone. Third generation Campisi, Petey Black, son of Salvatore, was made with the Colombos in early 1990s.
