Mafia Prince is great. Something I wasn’t prepared for in that book was the disgust Scarfo had for Sicilians. Every time he and Leonetti would have a conversation with someone of Sicilian ancestry, as soon as that person was out of ear shot, Scarfo would be warning Leonetti how the Sicilians weren’t to be trusted and that they were inherently greedy and backstabbing people. There must be 8-10 instances in the book where Scarfo goes on some kind of rant about Sicilians.
Yea I was surprised by that too. They need to make a movie about Scarfos rise and fall based on Leonettis book. Would be a classic with the right casting.
It would have to be a miniseries. There's too much to cover in two hours.
Yea that’s a good point…if done right I’d prefer a mini series now that I think about it.
Yeah lotta good storylines from 70s-80s Philly that could make a great series.
I’ve always thought a great opportunity for a mob series based on true life events would be something that basically follows the Bonannos from late 70s to 05. That would encompass the Galante/Rusty power struggle, the Pizza connection, the Galante murder, the 3 Captains murder, the Donnie Brasco infiltration, temporary suspension from the commission, Massino slowly rebuilding the family, Canada, Massino flipping.
Way too much for just a mini series, but if someone like HBO or Netflix committed to doing 4-5 seasons worth, there’s a lot to work with.
