If it's true Santo Sorge was a Gambino it follows a pattern.
NJ member Pete Sorce and Joseph Giardina’s wife Maria Sorce were 2nd cousins. Their families were close; member Salvatore Giardina was best man at his son Santo Sorce’s wedding and, in turn, Santo was an usher at Joe Giardina Jr’s marriage.

Another 2nd cousin was Philadelphia member Michael “Lightning” Amico. Also from Mussomeli, he was related via his mother Maria Sorce. He lived in Garfield, NJ for a long time and was arrested with Pete Sorce for liquor early on.

I can’t tell if/how Santo Sorge was related. He doesn’t appear to have been a sibling or a direct cousin.

Closest match is one born 17 Dec 1922 in Newark NJ and passed on 18 Jun 2008

FATHER: Anthony Giacalone
MOTHER: Grace Giacalone

MAP OF HOME IN 1940: Newark,Essex,New Jersey
STREET: Fourteenth Avenue
HOUSE NUMBER: 298

NAME: Michael Giacalone
GENDER: Male
RESIDENCE YEAR: 1957
STREET ADDRESS: 50 Vermont av
RESIDENCE PLACE: Newark, New Jersey, USA
OCCUPATION: Constr Wkr
SPOUSE: Lois Giacalone
PUBLICATION TITLE: Newark, New Jersey, City Directory, 1957

There are two Antonino Giacalones in Newark, one set is from Marsala but not the right guy, there's another one from Paceco which I believe is the father of Michael. Antonino's father Melchiore came from Vita.
Antonio Giacalone’s sister Antonina was married to Lorenzo Monaco. This was Newark UB Sam Monaco’s uncle.

Effectively, Mike Giacalone & Sam Monaco were 2nd cousins.

LoPiccolo and the Trifiros were from "Monreale" but it was actually Pioppo and they ended up in the Bonanno network which makes sense as Pioppo is closer to Partinico. Guys from the actual town of Monreale might show different patterns.
I remember this coming up in the Bonanno-Newark thread.

Dr. Noto’s father was from Via Santa Maria Nuova, Monreale

Do you know if Noto was from Monreale proper? Some of the Monrealese in the US mafia were actually from Pioppo, a small frazione halfway between Monreale and Partinico though those guys tended to be in the Bonanno network. I've noticed a lot of connections/relations between many towns in the Palermo province interior in general, even stretching quite a ways throughout the region.
Dr. Noto was born in Monreale & his fathers family was from there too

Yep, he and Grammauta were cousins.

Stephen Grammauta's father Domenico was born in Misilmeri. His mother was from Santo Stefano di Camastra in Messina.

I also think Joe Armone's mother was a Grammauta but can't confirm it.

Figured out how Anthony Scoma & Dr. Philip Noto were related: they were 2nd cousins.

Scoma’s mother Carmela Cannariato (1883-1979) was a first cousin to Noto’s mother Carmela Cannariato (1882-1974). Their maternal grandfathers, Laurentio & Bartolomeo Cannariato, were brothers.

The Cannariato family was from Prizzi, so they could have been related to Rockford, IL figure Salvatore “Sam” Cannariato whose family was also from there.

Joe Zoppo lived at the same address as Sam Accardi.

In the 1950 census, Joe Zoppo was living at 68 Peck Ave, Newark, NJ with his parents and siblings. His family had been at this address as early as 1942. His father Salvatore Zoppo registered for the WW2 draft at that address.

(https://www.ancestry.ca/discoveryui-con ... 92885:1002)

Sam Accardi lived at 68 Peck Ave, Newark, NJ in the 1940 census but had moved to 188 Franklin St, Bloomfield, NJ by his naturalization in 1945.

——————-

I don’t know if their times at that house ever overlapped or if Accardi sold his house to the Zoppo family.

I have to ask if this project is still moving forward. It would be a shame to let this project die. So much effort will go to waste if this one is dropped.

I am convinced William Bentvena was not made. But since JD is not here, we will not know the reason behind why he put him, and others never identified or once identified by FBI but later excluded from membership, on his list.
